Wow, this video is amazing. I've only been married just over a month, but my husband and I have been together for 8 years. I love when this poet says "the love doesn't sustain the promise, the promise sustains the love". That rings so true for me. We've had difficult times in our relationship, but we get through them because we choose to. I think that the reason a lot of marriages fail is because people choose to walk away, or cheat or whatever because it's easier.

Morgan - I've been loving this guy's videos lately, and this is no exception. Such great truth! Even in this phase of engagement, I have had a glimpse of the inevitable conflicts that will occur. The Lord is already revealing my selfishness, but I'm glad. He's giving me the heads-up. :) I know marriage will be the ultimate heart refiner, and I need it. Trying to tuck away as many nuggets of wisdom as I can for the journey, but very excited for the blessing I know it will be, too!!

No one ever tells you EXACTLY how marriage is going to be... Sometimes I feel like it's a set up, haha! Our first 3 years were HORRIBLE, OMG! Some days I wanted to find a way to take out my husband in his sleep... WHEW! Good thing we are sailing into our 5th year, it is STILL hard. But it is all about 2 different people who are or were independent and living their own lives trying to figure out how to work together and live together. It is all about trying to figure each other out, and figure out how to live with someone else and sharing your space and bed... FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE... Anyways, I went into the marriage with my own preconceived notions of what marriage is supposed to be like and my bubble was busted rather quickly and then I had to learn another way and then make it from that... :-)

Great topic! So many people can relate to this subject and maybe it will help someone?! I would say for our marriage, its been amazing..but there has been hard things in between the 3 years weve been together...but weve always stuck together in those hard times...no marriage is perfect and everyone has difficult things to go through..as long as you hold on together you can get through anything!

I think this would be a great topic. Marriage can be hard and does take work but I expected that since I don't personally know many couples who have lasted, but it's worth it. I just wanted to ask a quick question... in one of your posts awhile ago (sorry I can't remember which one!)you mentioned that you have picked up a lot of photography skills through reading different books and websites - can you recommend any? I have always loved photography and one of my 'goals' this year is to start developing my photography skills and to make it a hobby... I'm about to purchase my first DSLR so I can't wait!

Marriage is harder than i thought, mostly because i wanted those feelings we had during dating to continue, the "high" i guess. I want to be treated like I was back then, and i realize i set my expectations too high. The sustaining of passion is something i'd love to hear you talk about.
In terms of the love i have for my husband? that has grown exponentially since our marriage. I just have a weird need of needing to know how much he loves me aaalll the time!

It is way more difficult then I ever imagined. Especially in the early years, we got married young, we moved across state lines, bought our first house and got pregnant all within the first year. That was a hard year! Especially after our son was born. I was stuck in the frame of mind that my husband SHOULD know that I want him to change the diaper, or he should know that I wanted pizza tonight or that he should know that I want him to go grocery shopping instead of me always doing it! Then my husband, during a fight, pointed out to me that all of the things I complained about him not doing were never vocalized to him.
Now, we have conversations about what we expect from on another. And we say I love you and thank you, A LOT. ;)
