The next evening I really needed a shower (I forgot to move my shampoo and soap and razor over), so I took one before the kids went to bed. Finley was tired and cranky and wanted to be in the bathroom with me. Eric came in to get her and as he was opening the door she slammed it shut on his pinky finger. His fingernail is all black and blue and that night he didn't sleep much.
That same night Samuel woke up to go potty and couldn't find the bathroom. That meant I got to help him. Silas woke up once and needed his covers on, then woke up again and wanted to come into our bed. I was carrying him down the hall and ran him into a wall not once, but twice.
We're still finishing up the painting (Eric finished the laundry room yesterday, so now all we have left is the second bathroom). There are huge mounds of dirt in the backyard, which will become a raised garden soon. I hope. We still need to finish cleaning out some kitchen cabinets and putting liners in. We can't put all of our kitchen stuff away until we do.
Finley has been waking up around 5:30 or 6 because she has old blinds in her window that let light through. Eric is going to get black out shades today.
I took a long nap yesterday afternoon while Finley was napping, the boys were watching a movie, and Eric was painting. Surprisingly, I woke up much less stressed and in a lot better mood.
I'm learning to enjoy the process and I might as well, because this process might be long. Life isn't just about the end result, right?
