I recently asked on the Mama Loves Papa Facebook Page, "Do you make your bed?"
I had no idea what a hot topic it was. I love the idea of making my bed each morning and then having my kids make theirs, too, but we don't. The closest I get is making it before company comes over or straightening it out each night before I go to bed (because messed up covers when I'm going to sleep annoy me). Maybe one day I'll make it each morning.
Tell me, do you make your bed? Why or why not?

I missed this on facebook! But yes, I like to make the bed each morning... even if it is just neatening it up. In case of unannounced visitors and it makes me feel better to have a tidy room/bed! :) :) (In saying that it doesn't always happen!)
ReplyDeleteevery. single. morning.
ReplyDeletetidy bed, tidy start!
Yes, I do! But I only sleep with a down comforter, so all I do is fluff it and straighten it and I'm good to go. Ha!
ReplyDeleteeveryday! for some reason it just starts my day off right ;)
ReplyDeleteAlways! I hate going into our room after work and seeing the bed all crazy.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do! And I make my kids do theirs. I once read that half the battle of making a bedroom look tidy is having a made bed so the 30 seconds it takes me to do it is worth it for me! Plus I like walking in to see a pretty bed. Now if it was left to my husband...:)
ReplyDeleteOk, ladies, you MIGHT have convinced me. I made my bed this morning (although, I do have a friend coming over). We'll see how tomorrow goes... :)
ReplyDeleteI love beds that are made. But, I, like you, rarely make my bed unless company is coming. Now that my son is starting school, maybe I'll make it an everyday ritual. However, getting out of the house is challenging enough - and we usually forget to brush his teeth!
ReplyDeleteUm, no. Power to all these mamas, but I only do it if company is coming : / I'm proud enough of getting all the sheets washed once a week....
ReplyDeleteno! i never do. takes too much time and seems pointless to me since I'll just be crawling back in some hours later. If company is coming I usually will make an effort to, though.
ReplyDeletethat is such a hot and sexy quilt... make your bed EVERY day to show that little lady off! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Morgie,
ReplyDeleteI read once that in the average bedroom the bed takes up 80% of the floor space, so if you make your bed, then 80% of the room is clean. That's a lot of neatness for little effort....this tipped me over the edge from a rare bedmaker into an every day bedmaker. Ask Phil. ;)
Love you,
Nancy
Nope! I used to as a child, but it was crazy our mother wouldn't even let us ever sit on our bed because it would mess it up. So now I NEVER make my bed, and if I have an unannounced guest... well they get what they get because they should have called ahead, haha!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously though our room door is always locked because we keep my husbands hunting guns in there so if the bed is messy or not, no one will see it but me and the hubs when we go in at night.
My excuses: If you jump on the bed it only messes it up even more, whats the point in making it up if you are only going to mess it up later, oh i'm going to be taking a nap soon enough, lol
I totally make my bed every morning. I can't handle getting into an unmade bed and I love the way the bedroom looks when it's made.
ReplyDeleteKnow that I did grow up with a clean freak for a mom...she would DIE if she knew so many didn't make their beds.
I hardly ever do! Only if I have a spare 30 seconds in my room (i.e. not dressing a toddler/feeding a baby/putting on makeup!) & the bed isn't covered in washing! My bedroom is always the dumping ground, & the last place to et tidied, so when I have company the door gets closed! How awful! Xxx
ReplyDeleteI do..but it's sort of a new thing...like in the past 6 months have I started to do it every day. For some weird reason making it first thing when I get up motivates me to clean the rest of the house...or if the rest of the house doesn't get clean at least my room looks clean and I can escape there.
ReplyDeleteyeah, I do most days. Often Saturday doesn't get done, and Sunday never does. It just makes the room feel neat, and makes me feel better about the house!
