Early Morning Coffee

coffee

I'm thankful for... coffee!

About six months ago I started having caffeine again. While pregnant and breastfeeding I decided not to have caffeine (I am still breastfeeding, but so little that I figure it won't bother Finley) and after a seven year break my body was not used to it. Every time I'd drink coffee I'd get seriously shaky, especially if I hadn't had much to eat. Well, I think I'm finally past the shaky stage and I'm enjoying my coffee. Especially with these early morning wake ups.

I asked my facebook friends for suggestions on how to get Finley to sleep in longer (if you have any, I'd love to hear them!), so I did a little combo of what was suggested- I've been putting her to bed about 30 minutes early and letting her be awake and even fuss in her bed a little while to teach her that it isn't time to wake up. It's worked and this morning she didn't wake up until 6:45!

I used to love the Fall time change and, of course, the extra hour of sleep (don't forget to set your clocks back tonight!), but as a mom, I despise them. I'm afraid that this sleep training stuff will go down the drain and I'll be waking up even earlier tomorrow morning. I might have a 4 am wake up call tomorrow. Anyone want to meet for coffee in the morning?

How do you feel about the time changes?

I felt the same way with coffee in the begining, glad to hear you are through with the shaky stage! I totally agree with you about the daylight savings time! So annoying as a mom! A tip that I used with my lil' one is telling him that he cannot get up until the sun "wakes" up...of course I will be doomed when the season shift and the sun "wakes" up early! :)

  2. Ugh! I don't like the time change either! And as much as it sounds lovely to have an extra hour I find this time change much worse than spring because you're forced to go to bed an hour later than usual.
    Yay for coffee. :)

I'm not real sure how I feel about the time change. Ask me tomorrow morning after I see what time my son gets up LOL :)

  4. Agreed, becoming a mom made me hate time changes. 6:45 is sleeping in?? I won't tell you what time my daughter sleeps in until. Have you tried blacking out her windows? We hung a piece of black felt behind her blinds. What time does she go to bed? If you keep her up a little later, or push naptime back, will that help? Our daughter goes to bed on the later side (9 or 9:30), but it really works for us, because then my husband gets a lot of time with her in the evening and she's actually awake and cheerful. Then, she usually sleeps in until around 9am and will keep playing in her room most days. (of course, I probably just jinxed it...)
