My grandma got Finley that purse for Christmas and she loves to carry it around. Such a little lady. Of course, she does it while sitting on a skateboard. I guess that's life when you have three older brothers. Speaking of having three older brothers, it will be interesting to see what her life will be like as she gets older. I have one sister who is seven years younger, so I couldn't be more unfamiliar with these dynamics. I did always want an older brother, though, so Finley has my dream come true.

How many siblings did you have? What order are you? Did you love it or hate it? I think a whole post on birth order is in order.

  2. I've been looking for a little purse for my 21 m.o.-I know she'd love to carry it around. But like yours, she'd probably fill it with cars and trains, since she's got 2 older brothers!

I'm fascinated by birth order, too. I'm the oldest of three girls, and I'm constantly trying to compare my birth family with my own three kids. But since I've got 2 boys and a girl, I know that gender affects things, too.

  3. I read a post somewhere recently (I can't remember where now...brainfogzzzzzzz) the gist of which was something like, with your first child, you are super cautious and careful about everything and by the time number three (or four!) comes along, you relax a lot. So no wonder there are differences in temperament between first borns and later borns! I kinda agree!
(I'm a first born, and WAY more uptight than my youngest sister).

Anyway...cute outfit, cuter paring of skateboard + purse. Very post modern.

  6. P.S. I love birth order- all of my children are SPOT ON. Actually, Ivy (as the fourth) tends to go between the "baby" and like a new 1st born, which I hear is common!

I just had 1 younger brother 3 years younger than me and we don't have the best relationship.

  7. ahhh, so cute. i love the pop of color from her shoes. and she looks adorable in headbands! and please, where did you/how did you make the letters for the banner?

birth order is so interesting, i think it really gives personality to each child. i'm one of six! and right in the middle. so of course, i have the best birth order, i'm the favorite. ;) ha!

  8. Love that Finley is holding a purse on a skateboard! I can totally relate. I grew up as the only girl in our house(I have a half sister who's 9 years older and lived mostly with her mom) right in between two boys. Being the only girl in between two boys was interesting. Throw in the dynamic of only being 11 months younger than my older brother and the lines got blurred sometimes between being middle child to kind of twin like. So I'm not too sure how birth order affects me. It's pretty obvious and cut and dry with my two girls though!

  9. Finley is so sweet with her purse and yellow shoes. Did you make the fabric banner? Love that!! I am one of four children. Three girls and my brother, the baby. ;) I am second oldest however there is six years between my younger siblings and I. Birth order is very interesting!!

  13. finley is amazingly adorable!! i love her little banner :)

i am pretty interested in birth order lately too as i watch my kids grow and change and become their own little free thinking people. in our home we have 2 teenages, a grade schooler, a preschooler and the baby so the birth order mixed with the huge range in ages makes life pretty interesting... in a great way of course!

  18. Hey friend. I really should link up sometime and put pics of niece, since I'm childless. My niece is so adorable and just got picked up for modeling. We are going to Hollywood in June!

I'm the youngest of two. Just one older brother. Until highschool when I had a foster sister moved in who was also 3 yrs older than me. But we are family now. :) she is the mom of the niece I mentioned above!
We really should catch up sometime soon!

  20. Seeing Finley on the skateboard with the purse is such a great capture! It makes me wonder if she'll be a girly girl, a girl with the same interests as her brothers, or somewhere right in-between. And I guess that rolls right into your mentioning birth order. :)

I'm 18 years older than my little brother... So I was essentially an only child. I hated it and always wanted big brothers like Finley has!

  21. oh believe me... having a big brother wasn't as fun as people without one think it could be. they are very mean to their little sisters usually! at least, that's my story. i'm the middle child and the only girl, which i happen to like. i had plenty of girl friends growing up so i didn't feel like i needed a sister. my brother was 5 years older so we didn't hang out much. i bossed my younger brother around too but we did get along sometimes!

  22. Oh I wanted to say, I'm sure your little boys are great with their baby sister. My brother just happened to have behavioral issues and just picked on me a lot. We are close now though and love each other so it's all good!
