Of course, the boys loooooved it and had so much fun!

A few nights ago we did one of my favorite Christmas activities, looking at Christmas lights. I used to go with my mom and my sister and then Eric and I have gone every year since we started dating. The night is made even more fun with hot chocolate and singing The Twelve Days of Christmas (none of which we did this year, but there's always next!).

Christmas is so much fun as a mom. The boys are so excited and there's so much anticipation. Of course, they can't wait to open gifts, but I think they're equally as excited to give their gifts. It's all I can do to stop them from telling me what they got for me. Their innocence and delight is contagious.
Also, it's so neat to see them understand more and more about why we celebrate Christmas. Judah knows all about the story of Jesus and even knows much of the Bible verses by heart. Samuel knows the details of that first Christmas and Silas is just beginning to understand that it is Jesus' birthday. I love it!

I agree...there's nothing like Christmas as a parent! I think we're going to go look at lights tonight! :-)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this entry and the many joys you find in the holidays with your family. My two year old is just starting to catch on-and it's so exciting. I think it's wonderful too, that you are keeping the Savior the center of this time, I will never forget the Christmas songs my mom taught me and my sisters about Jesus, playing with our nativity, having games to see who could hide the mice most effectively...these are the memories that shape our lives.
