Today marked a first for me. I rode my bike to my polling place. I've walked (pushing newborn baby Judah in the stroller) and driven, but this was my first time biking. It was, also, my first time voting using a provisional ballot. Kind of annoying, since I thought I had re-registered when we moved, but I guess I didn't. At least, from what I've read, my vote will count like normal. Did you vote today?
I heard the poll workers talking about they had more people turn out today than for the last presidential election (at least at that polling place) because of the proposition to legalize marijuana. Interesting.
Today I'm thankful for the right to vote.
(Off topic, but tomorrow we're getting kale, beets, and fennel in our CSA box. Do you have any recipes using either of these? Please share! I have no idea what to do with them!)

We always use kale in a mock version of the zuppa toscana soup from Olive Garden...all you need is chicken stock, russett potatoes, italian sausage (or ground meat of some kind with a little added spice), cream and kale! Just google it, easy and yummy! As far as beets go, we just usually roast them and then add salt and pepper once they're done. I've heard Fennel is good sliced thin in salad, but I'm not a fan of the taste in general, so I have no good ideas.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about kale and fennel, but we love to dice raw beets and add some other crunchy veggies like cucumber and carrot; toss with some vinegar and a pinch of sugar (maybe add some of that fennel?). A beet salad, if you will. I like raw beets added to green salads too:-)
