Sewing for ME?

All of you non-sewers, are you sewing yet? Because you should be. One of the things that I want to sew most is little girl clothes. There are so many cute dresses, skirts, tops, jackets, etc for little girls. It's kind of overwhelming, but exciting!

I promised my boys I'd make them monsters. (Like ugly doll types). I'm not exactly looking forward to that one. They're just not as pretty. But, I love my boys and I can't just make things for a baby girl who has no clue what I'm doing. So, I'll take one for the team.

One thing I never really did have the desire to make is clothes for myself. I guess when I picture sewing for myself I think major frumpiness. (But, don't worry, I know that doesn't have to be true.) But, anyway, no sewing for me.

Until I stumbled across this post.

And, I thought, "hmmmm. Maybe I should challenge myself." (Because that's one goal, among many, for me with this whole sewing thing. To take risks, do something I don't know how to do, and be ok with it not being perfect. And then trying again. Now my strong suit.)

So, a Spring top for myself. All you ladies (or gentlemen, I guess) who do sew. Any suggestions on a pattern? I want a really, really easy one. Anyone else want to participate with me?

I haven't committed myself to this yet. Still thinking it over.

  1. Why yes, I am sewing now! I actually just started taking a sewing class at the beginning of the year through our local adult education. I love it & I'm learning so much already. I've only completed a pillow case (which is beautiful!) and right now I'm working on pajama pants. Not anywhere near ready for tops yet, so I'm no help there. Sorry!

  2. I HATE sewing. I know, I know, woefully un-domestic of me. But funny enough, Scott really likes to sew. But not pillows and stuff;)Another reason we are a good match. My mom was a great seamstress when I was a kid. I just hate sitting still and concentrating. I can't believe you can find the time!!
