Time with family and meeting Luke

This week we spent lots of time hanging out with Eric's family. His parents, his brother and his family from Cincinnati, his sister and her husband, and his other sister and her boyfriend. Fun!

We got to meet Luke, Scott and Caroline's 6 month old son, for the first time. Judah and Samuel loved him, but Silas wasn't impressed. He's used to being the only baby! :)

We're so glad we finally got to meet Luke and wish we could see him more often. Thank God for skype!

Flowers from Sammy

samuel picked out these for mama
Last week Judah was at my inlaws, so we just had Samuel and Silas with us at Costco. Eric was pushing the boys in the cart and I went around the corner to grab something. I heard Samuel say,

"Ooooh, flowers! We need to get those flowers for Mama!"

He picked out a beautiful bouquet of purple (because it's a "girl color") irises.

Samuel is such a loving, cuddly, sweet bos. He has such a big heart. I know when he grows up he will be quite the romantic. He's going to make a special lady very happy. For now, he makes his Mama very happy!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

st pattys day 09
My family went for a walk in the park today and everyone there was wearing green. It's one of my favorite parts of St. Patrick's Day, seeing mobs of green everywhere you look. I feel like I'm in a movie or something. Maybe a musical.

Wouldn't it be fun if life was like a musical? People breaking out in song and dance at any moment. At least for awhile, it'd be fun.

How much would you pay to be a runner?

One of my goals this year is to become a runner. The first part of meeting that goal is to run a 5k. I've been jogging on the treadmill and taking jogs around my neighborhood, but one thing that keeps getting in my way is the foot pain. Every time I go for a run my feet end up hurting, so I have to take a week off.

I knew the problem was in the shoes. I decided I needed new running shoes, so I bought some at a store known for the cheap deals. I (literally) grabbed the cheapest pair I could find and ran out because the store was closing. At $25 I got quite the steal, right? Wrong! I definitely believe you get what you pay for. Those things are not good for my feet.

Today I went into a running store downtown. I knew I could find an awesome, perfect pair, but it would require paying a little bit more money. Eric waited in the car with a sleeping Samuel and I took Silas in with me. Judah was with my inlaws.

First they measured the length and width of my feet. Then, they watched me walk barefoot and measured my feet again with all my weight on them. I tried on three pairs and they had me jog in them to see how they fit. The lady helping me told me I have wide feet and high arches. Because of the arches my feet were turning to the outside as I ran, which was causing the pain. They fitted me with the perfect pair of running shoes, specialized arches to help support them and keep them in the proper position, and special socks that prevent blisters and whisk away wetness.

I did notice one thing when I walked in, there were no price tags on the shoes. Weird.

So, I told them I'd go ahead and buy them. I was ready to start running hardcore with the perfect shoes. I went up to the register, they rang me up and I was expecting to pay around $100.

"That will be $195.98."

"Ummm, I have to go check with my husband....I'll be right back..."

Maybe this is the reason I never became a runner. It's too dang expensive.

When I got back in the car Eric said he didn't think I should buy them. I didn't want to not buy them, though, because they helped me out so much. I would feel bad for saying no. But, if I just left without saying anything I would be too embarrassed to ever go back into that store. And, what if I saw them at a 5k I was running? Embarrassing!

I decided to drive away. To drive away from ever setting foot in Runner's World* again. And, hopefully, I'll be able to find a cheaper, just as amazing pair of running shoes.

Faith Like Abraham

Awhile ago I wrote a post on The Woman with the Issue of Blood. Diane asked a great question that I meant to answer and forgot. Cee Jay Kay reminded me of it.

Diane asked,

"Morgan,

Hey girl! I am curious what you think about the people God chooses not to heal? Sometimes God allows us to endure trials of many kinds, indefinately. So, if you've been praying and seeking God, and are still not healed...then what?

Just curious what your thoughts are...."

Great question, Diane!

Matthew 21:22 says, "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Through the blood of Jesus God has provided healing for every sickness and every disease. Jesus was whipped 39 times before he was nailed to the cross. Jewish law said that a criminal could be whipped 40 times, so it was no coincidence that they chose to whip him only 39, as an act of mercy. Scientists have found that every disease and every sickness, from the common cold to brain cancer, stems from 39 main strains.

The story of Abraham is one my my favorites. Abraham and Sarah wanted to have a child, but were unable to conceive. They had tried and tried for many years, but Sarah never became pregnant. God had promised to give them a child, but still Sarah could not get pregnant.

During these many, many years the Bible said that Abraham, "never weakened in his faith, " but, "considering his body as good as dead...he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised." (Romans 4:19-21)

When Abraham was about 100 years old his son Isaac was born. He saw his miracle happen. He knew that God would do what He said he would do. Abraham didn't see his miracle in the first month or the first year or even the first 50 years.

So, to answer the question, I believe that God will bring healing to every situation where you have faith to believe. Faith was the vehicle that brought about Abraham's miracle. The Bible, also, said that he never doubted that he would have a son. He did try to bring about this miracle in his own strength, but he didn't doubt that it would actually happen. Just because you have been praying for something and haven't see any changes doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. Faith is calling things that are not as though they are. It is seeing your body sick and calling it healed by the blood of Jesus. Seeing things not through natural eyes, but how God sees them.

I have seen God do miracles in my life because I chose faith. I have seen people say, "I don't know if God wants to do that... everyone is different..." and their circumstances stay the same. I know the character of God. I can look at the Word and see that He healed everyone who had faith: the man with leprosy, Hannah who wanted a child, the woman with the issue of blood. There is example after example after example of people who, like Abraham, "believed God and it was credited to (them) as righteousness."
