We had a wonderful, full Christmas. I will (eventually)(maybe) post pictures. We got to see all our family that lives in town, which is a LOT with both of us being from here. It was surprisingly restful and enjoyable.
Yesterday Eric worked hard to take down the Christmas tree and all the decorations while I did laundry, dishes, and all the other monotonous, but necessary chores. The house is clean and all ready for baby.
Today Eric is finishing up his month end and year end paperwork, Silas is napping, and the boys are playing with their new toys. I'm making a gigantic batch of turkey noodle soup, washing my sheets, doing more laundry (always!), and maybe resting.
Tomorrow we head to the midwife office where we'll decide whether or not we'll be meeting our baby. If not, she said we'll wait another week. I really don't think that it will be another week before this baby is born on our own, so if not tomorrow, I guess I'll prepare to rush up to the hospital. I think tomorrow may be the day as I've been having lots of braxton hicks, the baby is really low, and I'm losing my "plug" (sorry, I know that's disgusting, but I love using my blog as a reference, so just pretend you didn't read that!). Although, we shall see!

Morgan, I'd love for baby to be born tomorrow! Clay's birthday is tomorrow, and I was so glad he waited 'till a few days after Christmas even though he was four days early.
ReplyDeleteSo... even though you didn't ask for it, I'm submitting my two sense:
Firstly, I've never had an induction so bear that in mind as I spout my thoughts.
I have heard many many stories from momma's who tell me that their induced labors were much more intense than their labors which started on their own.
My mom had seven children; her second was induced and she said their was no comparison. She preferred to avoid that option with future babies.
You are a pro (doing it ONCE is enough to be a veteran) and don't have anything negative to say about your previous experiences, so by all means do what gives you peace of mind.
I have had slow textbook labors, and some fast intense labors. There's no recipe as you well know.
They're all different no matter how you slice it.
One more thought to chew on, is that occasionally when one's body isn't ready to have a baby, an induction can lead to a C-section
(I am sure you are familiar with those stories too). I feel bad for these cases not because of the C-section, but because most hospitals in your area won't allow V-backs (I think Yuba City does). If you think more babies are a possibility, it's nice to do everything you can to keep your options open.
In all honesty does it really matter HOW baby arrives, if he/she ARRIVES?! No. Have that baby join your family however the Lord directs:-)
You can boycott my blog now! ;-)
I am so sorry to stir on the eve before:-)
I just wanted to encourage you, that if you can stand some more days, wait it out. I think you'd be glad you did.
regardless, I'll be praying for you, for peace and strength and endurance.
And I look forward to hearing YOUR baby's story!
Loads and heaps of love,
Analene
Analene- I think I'll have to boycott your blog now. haha, just kidding!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I say "induce" I actually just mean break my water, not use pitocin. The midwife did that with both Judah and Silas because my body does most of the work ahead of time. I am usually 4-5 cm dilated before my body goes into active labor.
With Samuel we chose not to be "induced" and labor-wise it was exactly the same as the other two- super fast and super intense. The difference was that I almost didn't make it to the hospital! Because my deliveries have all been about an hour long and there is a 30 min drive to the hospital, then we wait for my mother in law to come and watch the other kids, it's cutting it really close.
So tomorrow, I won't be "induced" unless I'm at least 4 cm dilated. I most definitely don't want to go into labor before my body is ready and also don't want to have a csection! :)
yay morgan! i hope tomorrow is the day! i was kinda hoping it was last weekend when you were over sewing, so i couldve been the one to rush you up the hill! but maybe next time right? i can't wait to meet your new baby!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great Morgan!
ReplyDeleteI can understand that reasoning! I was nine cent. when we arrived at the hospital with Clayton's labor and AJ said He'd rather not do that again! :-D Me neither!!!
Janice actually had me carry around an emergency birth kit with my next one because I lost my plug a month early and at two weeks before her due date I was over three centimeters di.
Thankfully she was born at the hospital and not in the car HAR-HAR!
I have to say that having babies at home got to looking pretty good after some of those past experiences. Whether your family be six, or whether the Lord delivers more, you are among women richly blessed.
Again, loads of love,
Analene
P.S. I meant "cents". If I'd had any "sense" I would have left well enough alone!!
Love you :-)
Maybe I can meet your family when we come to town in a couple months.

I would LOVE to have a home birth. That is definitely my ideal situation, although, not Eric's....yet. Our insurance doesn't cover a home birth at all and fully covers a hospital birth, so the decision was financial. Hopefully next time!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were related to Ben and Kim. Are your husband and Ben brothers? So neat all the connections. I "heard" of them when I was working at Women's Resource Clinic and have been seeing her around lately. So fun!
I would LOOOOVE to meet you when you are in town. And, all of your cute kids, too!!!
Love to you!!
We're praying that you meet baby tomorrow as well! Can't wait for the update!
ReplyDeleteThe Home birth plan came slowly and we grew to love it over the birth of each baby until we had Carolina at home with Paula and Sarah, and then of course Bryce who was attended by daddy and some friends.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid we are hopelessly "in love" with birthing at home now, but there's no "right" way to do it - excepting I can tell you that I would not have had peace about it unless AJ and I were of one mind on the matter :-)
Uncle Wyatt is the oldest, Ben the middle, and AJ is the "baby".
We have been missing the little cousins there a lot!
I can't wait to hear if this was the day!!!
Love,
Analene
Congratulations on the birth of your precious little bundle! I am so happy for you!!!
ReplyDeleteJust saw your announcement on FB. So, so happy for you! Congratulations!
