Our plans for today after music class were to go to my grandma's house. She lives in the middle of an orchard, so I wanted to take pictures of the kids and share them with you. But, we can't go. My keys are missing!
This isn't the first time this has happened, either.
When we were moving we had a bag with all of our spare keys, Eric's work shoes, and our alarm clock. I'm assuming the bag got thrown away (it was a garbage bag, because we ran out of boxes, but there were several of them that are all accounted for) because we never did find it.
We can't just go to the key shop and get spares made. We have to go to the dealership and pay a pretty penny for each one (besides my van we have three work trucks) and that pains my (thrifty) husband. So, we haven't done it.
The second time I misplaced the keys was a few weeks ago. We were going to go get frozen yogurt and, again, I couldn't find the van keys. It was very sad for me that we couldn't go. Thankfully, Judah ended up finding them under the couch soon after (but, we never did go to the yogurt place).
And now, today. Last night I ran to the grocery store to get a few last minute things for our dinner and was in a hurry. Eric had plans, so I wanted to finish dinner quickly and I must have put my keys in a random place. Hopefully, Silas didn't find them. (I did check the trash can, just in case)
This definitely reinforces our need for those spares. What do you do if you lose all of your keys? Can they make some or would they have to rekey the whole van? That would be a bummer!

I am known for loosing two things...often. My keys and my debit card. I've learned, after countless hours of looking for both and numerous bank fees for new debit cards, that it's best to have a spot that you put everything...all the time! We have a key hook that our keys always get hung on, and if found elsewhere by someone else, are returned to the hooks. As far as my debit goes-I have a rule that I can no longer take it out of my wallet and store it in my pocket...so now my wallet must go everywhere I go, and so far, for the past 6 months...it's worked!
ReplyDeleteit sounds like you need a key hanger morgan. i also saw a sensor thing in an ad this weekend, like at kohl's or something, that you attach to your key ring, and when you are looking for them, you push a buttom and an alarm goes off. sounds like you need that too. and yeah, they'll have to reconfigure or reprogram your locks. big bummer.
ReplyDeletecheck the toilet and any toy boxes too!
