Day 30: Preventing Sickness During Cold and Flu Season
In the last few days Silas has been getting over Roseola. Roseola is a virus that starts as a fever, then turns into a rash on the baby's body. The rash is on baby's trunk and sometimes spreads onto arms, legs, and face. My poor little SiSi had it all over. The rash isn't itchy or painful, it just looks really sad.

Noone likes having a sick baby or child! After having three babies there are a few things I've learned that you might find helpful.
Sickness is inevitable. Colds, flus, and fevers are going to happen. I think just knowing that takes a load off of your shoulders. I've spent way too much time being afraid of my kids getting sick and way too much time being upset when they do. Seriously, fear and anger aren't necessary. Don't receive them.
Knowing that no matter how much you do your baby/child is going to get sick at some time, there are some precautions you can take.
-I recently read in a magazine I subscribe to (which would make it either Parents or Cookie) that washing your clothes in hot water kills germs. People who wash all of their clothes on hot are significantly less sick than those who don't. I know we all want to be environmentally conscious (and that means wash our clothes on cold), but during cold and flu season it's an easy thing to do that makes a big difference. You can use color safe bleach on colored clothes.
-Wash your hands like crazy. I wash my kids hands after they go to the gym or church nursery, before they eat, after they use the bathroom, anytime they touch something that might be germy. I wash my hands all the time, too. When we can't wash we sanitize. You can get those little bottles or gel sanitizer, but I like sanitizing wipes (Target has travel packs of Wet Ones that I stock up on).
-Not only sanitize your hands, but sanitize your stuff. We're probably around people and have more people over than the average person. With cell groups we have people over several times a week. After people leave (mostly groups or if I notice someone is sick) I sanitize door knobs, toys, light switches, countertops, etc..
-If you're sick, stay home. No one likes to be cooped up inside their house or miss out on fun stuff, but sometimes you just have to do it. When your sick self walks outside the door you are spreading those germs to everyone around you. Last year the rsv virus spread like crazy around all of our church and friends because people didn't stay home when they were sick.
-Keep your immunity up by eating healthy, exercising, and taking a daily vitamin.

Day 29: Christmas Tree Cutting
We got our Christmas tree today! I had so much listening to Christmas music on the way up, drinking my peppermint mocha. It didn't exactly feel like Christmas, though. When we got up there it was HOT! I wished that I hadn't worn boots and long sleeves. The boys were much more comfortable in t-shirts.

We had fun, though. The boys loved cutting down the tree with Papa. You can see the smiles on their faces, even in this picture.

Day 28: It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Well, Thanksgiving is down and now the Christmas season is officially here. Or, maybe it's been here for the last several months? Anyway, I love Christmas.
For the last several years we have cut down our own Christmas tree. After having quite the experience up in the "real" forest, we now go to a tree farm up in the mountains about 20 minutes away.
For all my new readers, this is the tree that Eric tried to bring back to our house.

(Sorry Eric, I will not let you live this down. It's just too funny!)
I knew it looked big out in the forest. When he got it on the car I laughed and took a picture. But, when he refused to take it off the car it wasn't as funny. Needless to say, we got it home and it wouldn't fit in our house. We ended up taking it to the church and putting it in the foyer.
So, for the last two years we've stuck to the tree farm and we all love it. We get that outdoorsy, forest-y feel. But, they provide the saw, wrap it up, and put it on your car for you. They, also, have animals you can feed, a fire pit, and hot chocolate for sale. (Although, I think we'll be stopping by Starbucks on the way up there with my birthday gift card!).

Day 27: Thanksgiving

I recorded a video and planned to do my first ever vlog. But, I can't figure out how to upload it to my computer. If you have any tips, I'd love them. If not, I'll have to google it and try to figure it out.
But, I mostly just want to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I hope you all had a wonderful day with your family, friends, and turkeys.
I've recently done a "what I'm thankful for" post, so I'll just say I have so much to be thankful for. In a world/economy/time where there is so much instability I'm thankful for the stability in my life. Stability in Jesus, in my husband, my precious boys, wonderful family, and amazing friends. I'm so thankful for what I have and to where I've come in my life.

Day 26: The Power of Our Words; Words that Bless and Curse
As a young teenager I babysat for the most adorable baby girl (who is now almost a teenager herself!). I learned so much about parenting by watching the things her parents did and said and the way they interacted with her. I wasn't purposely trying to remember these thing for when I had my own kids, but they just stuck with me all of these years.
One thing was that they never said, "bad girl" or "good girl." Her value wasn't in what she did or didn't do. Instead, when she do something they liked, they would say "great job!"

I'm always shocked and saddened when I hear parents call their kids, "brat" or tell them to, "shut up." Or, when they compare them to other kids or do anything to hurt or tear them down with their words. Our words are so powerful! I've ministered to lots and lots of men and women who carry around emotional wounds 10, 20, 30 years later from things their parents said or didn't say to them.
The Bible says that, "out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing, this should not be so." With God's words he created the world. If the Holy Spirit lives in us we carry around that same power and authority. Our words can either bless those around us or curse them. Our words can bless or curse our husbands (or wives), our children, every single person we come in contact with. Our words can even bless or curse ourselves.
I take every opportunity to build up my children. I always tell them how smart, funny, perfect, and adorable they are. I call them my "gentlemen." When they are disobedient I discipline them in a gentle voice, usually quieter than I normally talk. I explain to them what I didn't like and why it was wrong. I am intentional about making them feel loved. The purpose of discipline is to form our children's character, not to get out anger or frustration.
The same is true for ourselves. I hear so many women talk about how klutzy, stupid, fat, and ugly they are. As a Christian, our words are prophetic. Which means that when we speak something out it becomes true. You don't have to be a Christian to believe this, though. It's just a natural principle. If I say, "I'm so tired," then I'm probably going to be more tired. If I say, "I'm so scared," then nothing's going to change. If I say, "I'm going to do it no matter how I feel," then I will probably overcome my fear.
Circumstances change by the things we speak. Our children blossom when we encourage them. Marriages are restored with gentle and loving words. The impossible can become possible by the words that come our of our mouths.

Day 25: Seven Month Old Baby!

Today my Silas Joel is 7 months old! People always comment on how happy he is. He's such a sweet, fun baby.
Unfortunately, today all three boys have fevers. Samuel started getting one yesterday evening, Silas this morning, and then Judah this afternoon. Samuel is already feeling better, so I'm sure this will be short lived. We have to be feeling good for Thanksgiving.

Day 24: Lulus and Santa
Congratulations Genevieve, our winner of the Lulus gift card! I tried my hardest to figure out how to get a screen shot of random.org, but after multiple tries, you'll just have to trust me that #8 was it. If you haven't already, visit lulus.com for Christmas presents for the fashionable girls on your list (and for you, of course!). They have super cute clothes for amazing prices.
And, thank you again to Colleen from Lulu's for this very generous giveaway!

Judah with Santa at one year old
Last night my family visited the downtown Christmas preview. All of the shops are officially open for Christmas. On Saturday we took the kids to Costco for their Christmas party and to meet Santa. Oh, Santa.
When Judah was two months old (his first Christmas) Eric informed me that he did not want to tell our kids that Santa was real. He didn't feel right lying to them. So, after a little bit of disappointment, I agreed. Since, the most important thing about Christmas for us is Jesus. And, I don't want them to think that I lie to them.
Fast forward four years. The boys LOVE Santa. They ask about him all them time and, no matter how hard we try, still believe in him. They'll say, "Will Santa be here on Christmas?" I answer, "No, he's just pretend." "Oh, will his reindeers and his sleigh be here?"
I don't blame them for wanting to believe in Santa. It was so fun for me growing up, but was sad when I finally admitted to myself that he wasn't real.
Right now I'm just treating him like any other make believe character (Mickey Mouse, superman). He's fun, but not real.
What do you do? Do your kids believe in Santa?

Day 22: Birthday Weekend

We had a very fun day today! We went to Costco so the boys could take a picture with Santa. They all really liked him! My mother in law asked Samuel if he sat on Santa's lap and he said, "No, just Judah and Silas. I stood." Smart boy, he was right. Noone cried, we got a cute picture (that I need to somehow scan), and Judah and Samuel loved their candy canes. After Judah had gotten off Samuel's lap Silas grabbed onto his beard and sucked his fingers, just like he does with my hair.
Tonight we had my family birthday dinner with my mom, sister, inlaws, and grandparents. It was fun and very delicious! It was, also, the first time Silas sat in a high chair. We had to put stuff behind him, so he wouldn't slouch down, but he stayed in there the whole time, ate his food (rice cereal, pears, and milk), and played with toys and spoons.
I'm tired now, so I think it's time to go watch Who Killed The Electric Car? Tomorrow we'll do some more birthday celebrating. Yay!

Day 21: Kindergarten
Sunday is the last day to enter the the lulus.com contest.
Today we took a tour of a charter school. I really liked the charter school. The have a full time art teacher and a full time music teacher. They don't use text books and each teacher is trained to teach using several different methods because kids learn in different ways. The classes are small. There's a garden on campus. They require parental involvement. The kids were happy and both Eric and I really liked it.
While I was pregnant with Judah I read several Dr. James Dobson books and decided that I would, most definitely, homeschool my kids. He said that if a kid gets picked on and made fun of it can "break their spirit." He said that classrooms aren't made for active boys who like to move around. He said that if he would have known that homeschool was an option (it wasn't as mainstream when his kids were young) he would have chosen it. So, that was it. I would homeschool my future kids.
Then I started thinking more about what I wanted for my kids. I want them to live out the great commission to "win the lost and make disciples." I looked at Judah's personality and saw that he's so outgoing and social and talks about how he wants to school. I know he'd have a lot of fun. I know that through homeschooling he would also be able to be a part of social activities. I love that I could take a subject that he's interested in and use it to teach so many different things and encourage his love for learning.
I know there are pros and cons to each option. Ultimately, we're going to do what God tells us to do.
But, in the meantime, I'd love to hear about your experiences. What did/do you like? What did/do you not like?

Day 20: Endurance
Today I decided to try out the turbo kickboxing class. I've gone to several of the classes and am usually perfectly sore afterwards. Sore enough to feel it, but not so sore that it's very uncomfortable. Yesterday was an exception. At the Absolution class the teacher told us to get in touch with our "inner pooch." I wasn't sore at all afterwards and I never became one with my "pooch." (Your ab muscles below your belly button, apparently.)
All of the classes that I've done were 25 minutes and 25 minutes was just the right amount of time. Today, though, I decided to do the turbo kickboxing even though it was an hour. Well, I had to leave after a half hour.
Seriously, I was dying.
It felt like running sprints in basketball. Run in place. Run to the side. Touch the ground. Punch up while jumping. Jumping jacks.
My face was red. My shoulders were red. And, I was sweating. (This is unusual for me during working out. Think it's time for me to push myself a little harder?)
Needless to say, I'll be back on Tuesday evening to work on my endurance. Stay tuned.

Day 19: No, Thank You
I just got home from a night out at Applebee's. Very fun. I throughly enjoyed my one and half raspberry lemonades and lots and lots of laughing.
At first it was just a friend and I. We were sitting at the table and talking and up walks this guy I went to high school with. He asked me what I'm doing now...."Career? Going to school?" I quickly said, "I'm married and have three kids!" (I could tell where this was headed.) He asked me if I told everyone this and I said I did.
So, he moved on to my friend. "What about you? Are you married?" She said she wasn't, so he asked her what her ring on her left hand was for. "It's so guys don't hit on me."
Poor guy. He tried.

Day 18: Silas in a Wig
The other weekend we went to Elliana's 4th birthday party. It was a very fun carnival theme (because Jenna is creative like that) and all the kids wore their costumes. Elliana was so cute with her Rapunzel wig! But, when she took it off we snatched up the chance to try it on Silas. Kristin emailed me this picture and I LOVE it! Isn't it hilarious?

Day 17: Love Dare
I'm doing the love dare from the movie Fireproof. My friends Brooke and Peter are doing it and suggested we get the book and try it out.
If you haven't seen the movie Fireproof, basically, it's about a couple whose marriage is on the verge of divorce. His dad gives him a book of dares that he's supposed to do everyday for 40 days. The Love Dare book is a book of all the dares that he did in the movie.
The first day was to say nothing negative. The second day was to say nothing negative and do an unexpected gesture of kindness. And the third day, the day that I'm on, is to buy a gift that shows you're thinking of them.
This is the gift I got Eric:
A BKE shirt from Buckle

Eric is hard to shop for sometimes, so I was kind of nervous about what to get him. I wanted to get him something he'd really like. I was trying to decide between a shirt and cd and he really likes the shirt, so I'm glad I got it! Today's dare was really fun for me. A lot of times I don't buy Eric gifts for no reason because I'm afraid he won't like what I get him. But, I should just do it because he probably will.
And, a gift for me! :)

Miss Me jeans
I definitely recommend the Love Dare book (and the movie Fireproof) for anyone struggling in their marriage or even for someone in a great marriage. It's been a lot of fun so far (although, not always easy!) and we still have 37 days left. Feel free to email me or leave a comment if you want to know more or have any questions.

Day 16: Suffering to Hope
This last season has been one of the hardest of my life. I've vaguely alluded to it, but it's not really blog appropriate. Lots of my friends, family, acquaintances, and, apparently, classmates from high school read this blog.
But, it's has been really, really hard. I know that God has used it to mold and form me and make me more like Him. It definitely didn't feel good, but I know that God uses everything for good for those who love Him.
I'm, also reminded of this verse:
"We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:3-5
Naturally suffering produces disappointment, anger, doubt, and hopelessness, but in relationship with God, even though you may be going through hard times God uses them to reveal how much He loves and cares for you. Though I definitely suffered I am more free, have more joy, more peace, I trust in God more, and I love Him more. It's similar how when you go through something really hard with your spouse or with a friend when you come out of it it's bonded you together and made you closer. Or, soldiers who go to war together come out best friends for life. I've gone through difficulty but I'm so much closer to my best friend, Jesus.

Day 15: Farmer's Market, Etc
Silas is still sleeping great! Last night he slept from 8:30am-8:30pm. Maybe it was the pears he ate last night. I'm making all of my own baby food for him. All I did was cut up some pears and mash them up with a baby food mill, then froze them into individual cubes. I put all the cubes in a freezer bag and then defrosted one when he was ready to eat it. He slurped it down just like he did with the rice cereal.
I woke up at 8:30 and fed Silas, then went back to bed until 10. It was so nice that Eric fed the boys breakfast and kept them entertained. Ahhh...

Then, we went to Farmer's Market. Our favorite thing to do on Saturdays. We usually go every Saturday unless, for some reason, we aren't able to. We bought Christmas presents for Judah and Samuel (our first ones for them), two pomegranates, and had some yummy Mexican food for lunch.

We our met our friends, Jody and Jaiden at the park to play for a little bit, then home for a nap. Silas was exhausted and fell asleep right away, but not Samuel. After calling to me for an hour I finally got him up to play in his room. Eric and Judah are out meeting with people and doing some work. A fun, mellow Saturday. Tonight I'm making tri-tip and veggies for dinner and we'll watching Fools Gold from Netflix.
Super exciting, huh?

Day 14: My Handsome Man
I blinked and he went from baby to boy.

Today we went to Trader Joe's to get some much needed groceries. As always, Judah sits in the front of the cart, Samuel in the back, and Silas rides in the Beco.
When we got to the counter to checkout the boys started handing the worker guy our food. He asked them, "Are you guys the big brothers?" Judah said, "yes."
Worker Guy: Wow your mom has her hands full. Do you change your little sister's diaper? (Silas was wearing a grey shirt with blue, red, and white writing and red pants.)
Judah and Samuel: blank stare
WG: I'll take that as a no.
Do you at least help with your sister?
Judah: I don't got a girl.
Worker guy didn't hear him.
Silas smiles at the worker guy.
WG: What a pretty smile!
I've had that happen before with both Judah and Samuel, where a stranger calls them a girl. With Judah I would correct them, but I don't anymore. Maybe it's because I don't want them to feel bad. Maybe because it's not worth the effort. The funniest time was when we were at the pharmacy and the girl said, "Oh I saw you with your daughter (Samuel) earlier. She's so cute! How old is she?" I said, "Two." Then she said, "What's her name?" That caught me off guard and I said, "Sam." So funny! I was laughing hysterically on the inside and, as soon as I got out of the store, on the outside!
Maybe from now on I should make sure people know my boys are boys.

Day 13: Life is a Vapor
I have a few pictures of me with my great-grandparents. I love that I have those and, even though, I only have a few memories with them I treasure them so much.

Silas and Grams (my grandma)
I think as I get older I get more sentimental. Life is going by quickly and the verse in the Bible that says that life is but a vapor, is so true. It's here today and gone tomorrow. We don't know how much time we have left here on earth or how much time our loved ones have.
I think having that kind of mentality makes the unimportant things disappear and the big things what we concentrate on. Telling the people I love that I love them. Making sure they know how special they are to me. Little annoyances won't matter in 10 or 20 years. I want to cherish each moment while I have it.

Day 12: Remembering Pregnancy Brain
I think I was about 7 or 8 months pregnant. I was waking a few times during the night to pee and, overall, sleeping pretty light waiting for Baby Samuel to make his appearance. (Although, we had no idea he was Samuel at the time. We were waiting to find out his sex until his birth.)
I remember waking up one night, in the middle of the night, to mice crawling around in our attic. It freaked me out and grossed me out so much that I had to do something. I grabbed a broom and started banging the ceiling with it. Eric was still asleep until the banging happened, but I wasn't thinking about him.I just wanted those mice out of there! Sick!
We were living in an apartment at the time where our bedroom shared a wall with our neighbors bedroom. I'm sure our neighbor could hear all the banging going on, but he probably didn't want mice running around above his head either.
All the sudden it dawned on me that maybe these weren't mice after all. I looked outside. The tap-tap-taping was rain, not mice. Whoops! Sorry neighbor!

Day 9: One Down, A Million to Go
I've been tagged for several different memes in the last few weeks and was waiting until NaBloPoMo to write them. I'll do them when I'm short on time or lacking in creativity! :)
Jenna tagged me for the Kreative Blogger Award Meme.
1.what i did before: I went to bed super late and slept in super late. I read for hours at Barnes & Noble, while drinking a mocha, by myself. I went shopping, browsed around, and actually tried clothes on. I worked at a crisis pregnancy center. I went to movies with my husband. I ate my food slowly instead of shoveling it down ready for someone to need something. I never woke up in the middle of the night.
2. what i do now: Love my husband and my boys with all of my heart. Buy clothes at Target with two boys in the cart and one strapped to my chest. Blog! Read parenting books and magazines. Lead cell groups and spend my time with my amazing disciples. Overall live a much less selfish life; I love that my life revolves around Jesus and the people around me, not just what I want and I need and I feel like all the time.
3. what i'd like to do: Grow in the revelation of God's love for me and in faith. Minister with my husband, children, and their future families for the rest of our lives. Become a millionaire. Dress super stylishly everyday.
4. what attracts me to my husband: I think what first interested me was that he was so different from me. It was intriguing and exciting. Oh, and his buff bod! Now, including those, I'm attracted to his heart for Jesus, his love for us- his family, the way he plays with the boys and makes them laugh, that he's so hardworking and never quits or is lazy, that is is a man of the Word and reads the Bible and prays everyday and loves Jesus.
5. favorite foods: black beans, pizza, pesto-crusted salmon, chocolate ice cream, Pluto's salads, anything from my favorite restaurants: Sierra Nevada, Grilla Bites, and Sin of Cortez
6. what i say most often: "Who's the cutest/smartest/most perfect/etc boy in the whole wide world?" "I love you!" "Gentleman!" "Do you want to watch a movie?" "Who loves you?" "Who's my favorite 4 yr old/2yr old/baby?"
Let's see, for this one I'll tag: Momma Bug, Laura, Brooke, Jody, Diane, Mommy Reg, and Shannon

Day 8: I love it here

In my senior year economics class we had to write a paper about where we saw ourselves in 15 years (I think it was 15). I remember writing that I would be married, have some kids, live on the beach and next door to all our bestfriends, have bbqs together all the time, live in a mansion, and my husband, most definitely, would be the ceo of a huge corporation.
My teacher burst my bubble writing on my paper that there's no way my husband would be able to be a ceo at such a young age. My teacher was an old man and, obviously, had no idea young people would soon be millionaires by ideas like myspace.
I just knew I'd be living in SoCal on the beach. Maybe Huntington Beach, maybe San Diego, definitely not in the middle of NorCal in my hometown. Yet, here I am. And, there's nowhere else I would rather to be living. I left for 6 months to do a DTS with YWAM and during that time I was so homesick. Or maybe just really, really missing Eric, my boyfriend at the time.
After getting engaged we considered living in a few different places, but ended up staying here. After the boys were born we realized how great is it to be near family. We've never had any other babysitters besides my mom and Eric's parents. I love that love my kids as much as I do and take great care of them. The boys happy to see us leave when they're with Nana, Grandma, or Grandpa and don't want us to come home.
We have lots of family in town. Besides those three we, also, have my sister, my dad (on the weekends), all four of my grandparents, two of Eric's grandparents, three aunts, three uncles, and lots of cousins, and second cousins.
Not only do we have family here, but beautiful trees, parks, amazing friends, our church that we love, and great weather (no snow).

Day 7: On Being a Hot Mama
Today was a very happy day for me! I got on the scale at the gym and was the exact same weight I was at my first midwife appointment. I was 6 weeks pregnant with Silas.
I have five more to go until my actual pre-Silas and pre-Samuel weight (so yeah, those 5 lbs came on quick) and five more after that to my pre-Judah weight. Woohoo! My pre-pregnancy weight is getting closer and closer. If I hadn't have gained 55 lbs I'm sure if would have been here much sooner. Oh well, I enjoyed being pregnant!
There are a few things I want to do to lose the rest of the weight and get more toned.
On Thanksgiving Day I'm going to run a 5K. And, I'm trying to convince my friend, Brooke, to do it with me. Before my "5k training" I'm not sure how far I'd run at one time. It was less than a mile. Ok, a lot less than a mile. Every runner I've ever seen is in great shape, so now I'm determined to be a runner. I'm excited for the 5k and I'm actually enjoying running (I guess it's jogging) for the first time in my life.
I'm going to buy a pedometer and walk 10,000 steps per day. I borrowed one from the library a couple years ago and had to stomp for it to actually count my steps. I'm hoping they've come a long way since then. I don't want it not counting my steps and I definitely don't want to be marching around in public.
I'm going to cut down on the sweets. Notice I did not say cut out, just cut down. A mocha here and a frozen yogurt there is fine, right? Right?
What are you doing to get healthy/stay healthy during the holidays?

Day 2: Baby's First Food - Rice Cereal
Here are a few more cute pictures from Halloween: (I'll be posting my opinions on celebrating Halloween vs. not celebrating soon!)

Cowboy Joozy

Captain Sambones

Baby SiSi Bear
Tonight we fed Silas rice cereal for the first time. I, obviously, wasn't in any hurry to start him on solid foods. (Although, our pediatrician did suggest starting Silas at 6 months, as opposed to 4 months, like he told me with the other boys. I'm glad that he's slowly, but surely catching up to the AAP recommendations).
Anyway, I wasn't in any hurry. As thankful as I am that Silas is a perfect, healthy baby (like his brothers) I'm a little sad that he's growing up so fast. These last 6 months have flew by and I really hope the next 6 months go a lot slower. As my third baby I think I'm able to appreciate and enjoy him more than just trying to figure everything out. I've learned to relish each little moment and each little accomplishment.
Getting ready to his cereal. "I'd rather eat the bib!"

Notice my cute $4 ring from Lulu's.
"Maybe not the bib. Maybe I'll just stick to my fingers."

"I'm not too sure about this stuff. Maybe it's ok."

He, actually, ended up really liking it. I was surprised how well he did and how much he slurped it down. Probably because it was mostly breastmilk, but he ate the whole thing. We'll do rice cereal for a few more days, then try the homemade pears or butternut squash I made the other day. ,

Day 1: Halloween and Thankfulness

We had a very busy and very fun day yesterday! Two halloween parties, trick or treating downtown and at my inlaws' neighborhood, out to dinner. Lots of excitement for little boys. This was the first year that the boys have gone trick or treating, so it took them awhile to get it down.
Downtown the stores were all handing out candy. The first time they went up to one of the ladies passing out candy and held out their bags. After she put a piece of candy in their bag they looked down, but didn't move, just waiting for more. At another store they, again, didn't move after getting a piece of candy. The lady ended up giving them each 3 pieces.
At the first few houses at my inlaws' neighborhood Judah would ring the doorbell and then both boys just stood there and didn't say anything. They still got candy, though, and a lot of it. We were the only trick or treaters in the whole neighborhood, so they people that actually opened their doors gave the boys handfuls of it. After several houses they started to get the hang out it. Judah rang the doorbell, waited for them to answer, then said, "We need candy!" We reminded him to say, "Trick or treat," so, at the next house he said, "Trick or treat! We need candy!" He was totally cracking me up!
Diane posted something on her blog today that really spoke to me. It was about remembering the things that you are thankful for. I (like most people) sometimes tend to focus on the things that bother me, that I want to change, or I don't like. But, there really is SO much to be thankful for! So, I made a list of 10, just like Diane did.
1. My sweet Jesus. That He saved me from eternal hell and my own hell on earth.
2. My husband, who gives me safety and security everyday.
3. My beautiful, perfect, precious boys. I've experienced a new depth of love for them and a revelation of God's father love for me.
4. Our families. I love how they love my boys. It blesses my heart.
5. Bestfriends. The girls I can laugh with, cry with, and just have fun. It's been awhile since I've had bestfriends and I didn't realize just how much I've missed it.
6. My disciples. I have sons in the natural, but these ladies are my daughters.
7. Financial security and prosperity. Experiencing the blessing of God in our finances, despite the economy.
8. People who love God and love each other.
9. My gym membership. Thank you so much, Ellie! It truly is an incredibly blessing!!!
10. The little (and bigger) things: cute clothes, walks in the park, decaf mochas, my favorite blogs, old friends on facebook (and other nerdy online things Eric doesn't understand).
I challenge you to make a list of 10 things you're thankful for, too. You can post them on your blog and leave a link (I want to read them!) or just post in the comments.
