Playing Catch Up #2

I love blogging, but have had NO time to do it the past couple days. I keep thinking of lots of things I want to say, but never get around to doing it.

-Have you ever heard of tabouli? I remember my mom making it and, personally, I think it's very tasty and it's also very healthy! I decided to make some for dinner yesterday. Eric was like, "umm, is this supposed to be hot?" That translates to, "What the heck is this stuff? This is nasty!" But, because Eric would never say something like that he said some other random comment about it being too cold.
Well, today when I tried to feed some to Judah he literally spit it out and started gagging. I thought he was going to throw up, but fortunately he didn't. Eric was like, "yeah, I had to keep myself from gagging last night." Haha, I guess I'll be the only one eating the leftovers!

-The Community Babyshower: Basically, it's a big baby expo put on by the hospital. You have to be invited to be in it (but don't worry Jenna, I'll get you an invite!). Everyone sets up their table and promotes their product or service. I've never been to it (last year we thought about it but it was right on my due date!).
Today I met with a lady putting on a business tradeshow. Personally, I think it sounds cool, but Eric doesn't think we should be in it because it's not geared toward our target audience. There's a huge baby expo in San Francisco, but it costs at least twice as much to be in it. The cool think about the Home, Garden, & Antique Show and the Community Babyshower is that we're able to be in them for FREE!! You can't beat that!

-I know I've said this a million times, but Judah is SO FREAKING social! Everywhere we go he's making little friends. And, he'll go up to both adults and kids and say, "What's your name?" Tonight we were at Costco and he was having fun sitting next to and eating pizza with his 4 year old new friend Albert. I didn't make up that name either, how cute is that? I love that these total grandparent/great-grandparent names are coming back in. A few months ago Laura came to storytime with us and there was a little girl names Ethel or something like that. (Do you remember what is was, Laura?)

-Judah's sleep schedule is a CRAZY mess. I know it's my fault, but I honestly don't know if there's much I can do about it. Most nights we get him into bed at 8:30. But, on cell nights people don't leave until 9:30, so last night he was up until 10:00. On Sundays by the time we get home from church and eat lunch it's already 2:30, so he goes down at 3. Then, he stays up late. Then, sleeps in the next morning and starts the whole crazy schedule over the next day. Today he didn't wake up until 10:20!! Ministering to people and church are, obviously, huge priorities to us, but I feel like Judah's sleep schedule is totally being affected. I want him to be getting plenty of sleep. He just started getting ANOTHER cold and I hope it's not from lack of sleep. Oh yeah, and the crazy sleep schedule also messes up his naps. So much so that he hasn't taken a nap in about 4 days. I know he needs those naps because he falls asleep in the car or gets super cranky early. On the way home from Costco tonight, at about 6:30, he fell asleep.

-Tomorrow I have Wake Up NOW (Networking on Wednesdays, remember?) I always feel so funny getting dressed up in businessy clothes, like I am playing some game or in a play or something. I'm such an imposter! I'm not a businesswoman...I'm a MOM! Different businesses take turns hosting them and tomorrow's is at a coffee shop. Can't miss that!

-The last couples nights have been LATE nights for Eric & I. With Judah going to bed around 9:30 or 10:00, we don't get to bed until around midnight. But, it's been so much fun!!! We study our Bibles together (so good, so easy to get tons of revelation!) and then we work on our webpage. Eric is teaching me how to put together the announcements and I really like doing it. (And I'm learning how to use Photoshop. Yay!) I've made a save the date, two pregnancy announcements, and two other things that I can't remember. Check it out and maybe you can find the new stuff made by yours truly. (haha, I've always wanted to say "yours truly")

He's a Policeman!

I'm so excited! Last night I got my Palm Treo 700p (Yes, I'm very technical now). It was a difficult journey to get here (lots of complications with the order, sent to the wrong address, etc..), but well worth the wait. I'm having so much fun figuring everything out. Saving names and phone numbers with pictures, the calendar, surfing the web, checking my email, and next I want to figure out how to use the mp3 player. It also connects to the computer, so I can use them together.

Sitting with the kids 2/21/07
He looks so grown up sitting with the kids!

Yesterday Eric only had to work for a few hours, so he got to come with us on a Police Station Tour. It was with the Chico Mother's Club, so it was funny that Eric was there, but noone one seemed to mind. At the Fire Station Tour several other dads went, so I expected it this time, but oh well. The tour was really fun and interesting, but probably would have been better (for me) without 20 kids 3 and under. The whole time someone was screaming or crying, so I couldn't really hear what Officer Trudy was saying. My favorite part was the dispatcher room. It was interesting to see how 911 calls come in. Eric and Judah's favorite part was checking out the police car.

In the back seat of a police car 2/21/07
In the backseat?!?!

After visiting the fire station Judah would always call himself a fireman. But, now he says, "I'm a policeman!"

Happy he's not in the backseat! 2/21/07
Happy he's not in the backseat!

In about 3 weeks we're going to have a booth in a big Home, Garden, & Antique Show. We've been busy gearing up for it. We've ordered banners, new business cards, and postcards. We're really excited because thousands of people will be there, but we're also not quite sure what to expect or how it will work. I'm sure it will be great, though! About a month after that we're going to have a booth in a Community Babyshower, so we have some busy months ahead with Announcing Yours.

Life is a vapor, at best but a vapor

"For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." James 4:14

I found out a few days ago that an 18 year old boy from the city I'm from was killed. I didn't know him, but I did know his family. His mom was my Brownie (Girl Scout) Troop leader in elementary school and his sister was a high shool friend. Tragic! I am so sad for his family, who are missing their boy so much. When someone dies all the little stuff is suddenly put into perspective. Like, maybe those things really don't matter so much.

I have been thinking about a post to write for a few days now about loving people. As a leader in the church I have the difficult, but humbling task of loving broken, hurting women. I see them come in from a place of desperation and get to walk beside them as they truly are transformed. I know I have talked a lot about these women being "transformed," but you probably can't comprehend that unless you've also seen it.

So, like I said, some of these women come into my cell group depressed, angry, bitter, etc.. And then it's like God says to me, "Roll up you pants, it's time to get dirty." There's really no way around it. A lot of girls have said/done really hurtful things to me. In the past I was super, super, maybe even hyper-sensitive. I got my feelings hurt REALLY easily and cried even easier. I feel like God has healed my heart and placed a seal of protection around it. If I picked up offenses easily I would probably have to quit leading.

So, the past year I've been learning how to say, "That's not about me. That's where they are in their process." It's about loving these women as God molds them and changes their character. I guess reading about this death just solidifies everything even more. Does something temporary, like someone saying something "mean" to me really matter? Does it matter in the perspective of eternity? People are eternal. I want to see these lives changes, even if it means getting my pants wet and my hands dirty!

Today I was reading my Bible and a verse really stuck out to me from Romans. "To all God's beloved ones...called to be saints and designated for a consecrated life..." (Romans 1:8, Amplified Bible) In my own words it says this: I am God's greatly loved one. I am a saint. I am set apart for a holy and sanctified life. That's the kind of motivation I need to brush off offenses, instead of picking them up. To love those who many seem unlovable at the time, but become the easiest to love. To pray with and disciple those who have nothing to offer, but who become victorious and strong world-changers.

I am victorious!

This afternoone is the post-encounter. It's basically classes to follow up the Encounter. Each person got so much freedom and now they need to learn to walk in it! Eric and I were both supposed to teach them, but that's pretty much impossible with the kids. So, I told Eric he could go ahead and do it. See what a nice wife I am? :)

One of the girls in my cell group asked if I could watch her two kids who are 2 and 3. So, all 4 of our kids needed a nap. Now, THAT was difficult to do, but I'm happy to report that I am indeed victorious! Judah is asleep in his bed, Samuel is asleep on the livingroom floor, the 2 year old little boy in his pack n play in my room, and the 3 year old little girl on my bed. It only took over an hour to do it, but it did indeed happen. Yay!

It's already 4:15 and the class gets over at 4:30, so Eric and my friend should be here soon.

Just for Dad - haha

Well, Samuel is sound asleep. Judah, on the other hand, has been happily chatting away in his bed for the last 40 minutes or so. He just started saying, "Out! Out!" then stopped, so hopefully he will go to sleep soon. It's been taking him a lot longer to fall asleep lately.

Ok, I have a confession to make. I LOVE to tell the same stories over and over again. Everytime I tell Eric one he says, "I know, you've already told me that." So, I'll tell you!

In high school I was good friends with this guy named, "J." J told me he was in love with me, but there were no mutual feelings. I really liked hanging out with J. I gave him a ride home everyday, I went to his family's Christmas party, we would hang out, and our favorite thing to do together was dance and sing. He was/is an amazing piano player, so he would play piano and we would sing all kinds of Disney songs. During my senior year of high school we made up a "Christmas Dance" with two other girls. We performed it in our Spanish class, in people's homes while caroling, and even downtown. In the car we would have two parts to pretty much every song that came on.

Well, when I married Eric I always wanted him to do that kind of stuff. The most I ever got from him was singing "A-wee-ma-wuh, a-wee-ma-wuh" to the Lion King. I could not figure out why he didn't want to do two part Disney songs and choreographed danes with me. Well, as I was driving home last night it hit me, Eric isn't gay! J came out a few years ago and now everything that happened in high school totally makes sense. Although he did say he was "in love" with me, maybe he meant more like a bestfriends thing.

I typed out the second one, but it sounded more scandalous than funny. I'll paraphrase it real quick: I was 16 (almost 17) and a good friend of mine's dad just won a seat as judge. I went to his party with my friend and met this guy. He was 35 years old and a District Attorney. He asked for my number, due to my nievity I gave it to him, he called me, my mom was weirded out by it and made it stop, the end. The reason I thought of this one is because he is now 43. How weird is that?

Recap

So, we had an A-Mazing Valentine's Day! After my mom got off of work we dropped the boys off at her house and headed to Red Tavern. They said we needed to wait in the bar for 20 minutes and then they would know if we could get a table or not. Eric and I don't drink, so it was pretty funny sitting at the bar. I had a sparkling cider and he had rootbeer. Tasty! I had already given him his gift at home, but he gave me a VERY romantic card. I'll have to scan a picture. Eric despises cards because he thinks it's ridiculous to pay $3-4 for one card, so it really meant a lot that he bought it. The front was pink and brown with a cut out flower and it said "My wife, My love." Then, he wrote a very sweet and romantic note inside. Oh yeah, and he had already given me a box of See's. Yum! So, I put the card on the table telling him how much I loved it and he said, "You didn't read it all." I was like, "yes I did." So, I picked it up and turned the page (there was velum on the inside of the actual card) and it said, "Your treo is in the mail." Heck yes! I'm not exactly sure what a Treo is, but I do know that it's a very cool cellphone. This is my first time getting my very own phone (not a hand-me-down from someone) since my senior year of high school - almost 7 years ago. I cannot WAIT for it to come. I was totally surprised and blown away with all that Eric did for me.

So, after the 20 minutes were up the hostess came and said that she would be able to seat us. Yay! We had already studied the menu and planned out our meal. (I should have taken notes, so I could more thoroughly describe our food. Shoot, next time!) Eric: appetizer- cauliflower cheese soup, entree- garlic crusted lamb sirloin, dessert- some kind of baked bananas. Morgan: appetizer- the same soup, entree- roasted duck breast with red bell pepper risotto and spinach, dessert- berry tiramisu.

During dinner we randomly started talking to the couple next to us. They were so sweet and friendly. They graduated from Chico State and are now working here and are getting married at the end of August. We all exchanged numbers and have plans to get together in the near future.

Happy Valentine's Day!

In the bath! 2/7/07
They're both sticking out their tongues. haha!

Do you want to know something that annoys me? That it's uncool to like Valentine's Day. It seems like so many people I talk to and so many blogs I read are like, "I don't celebrate Valentine's Day" "It's so commercialized" etc.. Personally, I LOVE Valentine's Day. I know I say this at every holiday, but it's definitely one of my favorites. I'm such a sucker for romance and during Valentine's Day you get to pull out all the stops. And, now that I have Judah and Samuel it's a special day to show my love to them. Of course, I show my love to all three of my boys everyday, but Valentine's Day is just another time to do it. My mom always gave me little Valentine's gifts, so I'm going to do the same for my boys.

We gave Judah his Valentine's gift last night- a new Wiggles dvd. Personally, I really love the one he has. The songs are so fun to sing and dance along to. But, I think it's time to add a 2nd dvd to the collection. This one is called "Splish Splash." I think it would be so fun to be a Wiggle or a Doodlebop or something like that (Doodlebops are actually freaking cute dressers!). I think I would be good at it, I love to be silly and crazy. Hmmmm, if only I didn't have to go on tour.

Anyway, back to Valentine's Day. I haven't given Eric his gift yet, but he did leave some flowers for me this morning. Judah kept saying to me, "Get your floors." I was like, what? Floors? What? Then I looked outside by the back door and saw my red tulips. :) Tonight Eric and I are going out to dinner. I really want to go to Red Tavern, this nice restaurant in town that I've never been to before, but we didn't get reservations in time. Eric called a few weeks ago and they said they were booked, but to come anyway because a lot of people just don't show up. So, hopefully that will work out. If not, I don't think Denny's takes reservations. ha! I'm also going to wear a new dress that I got that one day I went shopping downtown. Yay! I'm super excited for that.

Yesterday Judah made his very own Valentine's and picked out who to give each one to. Very very cute!
Valentines!

Yesterday I started to get very frustrated because Samuel fell asleep in the car twice and wouldn't go to sleep at nap time. (He did the same thing today.) So, I laid Judah down in his bed, but Judah heard Samuel up and playing. So, he wouldn call out to him, "Samuel, come here! I have some pepe [pizza] for you!" And, Samuel would crawl over to his room and open up the door and go right in. Judah's room is technically a den, so it has a folding wall that you can't lock. Samuel knows how to just lift it up and crawl under. This was frustrating during naptime, but when I was going to bed last night it made me laugh and tear up a little. It's just one of those things I want to remember forever. My boys are so precious together and it's so fun watching them become the bestfriends that I know they will be forever!

The Encounter

Well, the Encounter was AMAZING, as always. I wrote out this whole long post on it, but really, how do you put something like that into words? This time I went as a leader, expecting to minister (which I did and I loved it), but God ministered so much to my heart. He broke off a spirit of fear once and for all, he showed me how much he delights in me as his daughter- I am his princess!, and he gave me confidence to walk in my anointing and authority.

Lives we transformed, hearts were healed, those women came back new people and it's amazing to see. I love being a leader and seeing first hand the things that God does in those incredible women's lives!

A scary night at our home sweet home!

We're back! This weekend at the Encounter was amazing, but it's so good to be home with my boys!!

Tonight we had the scariest thing EVER happen! Judah and Samuel were in the kitchen playing and Judah opened up the dishwasher. I heard Judah saying, "No Samuel, don't eat that!" So, I went over there and Samuel was eating dishwasher detergent! Eric and I didn't know that it was in the dishwasher. So, Eric started rinsing his mouth out while I called poison control. They said to make sure it was all out because it could burn his mouth or even his esophagus. Thankfully, he seems to be doing fine. They said to give him something to drink and as long as he could swallow it everything was probably ok. They just called back a few minutes ago. I think it's great that they do that.

So, we survived our first (and hopefully our last!) phone call to poison control.

Businesswoman

February is National Networking Month. Today I went to my first Wake Up NOW (Networking On Wednesdays) meeting. It was at this funny restaurant called Stick and Dip, where basically, everything you eat is on a stick and able to dip. It's always fun taking a little break from being a mommy to be a business woman. There were business people with all different kinds of profession from doctors and dentists to the Red Cross and Special Olympics. It started at 7:30, so I woke up at 6:30 which is early for me! The boys usually wake up at 7:15 at the absolute earliest (more often closer to 8 or 8:30).

We went around and everyone gave a 20 second speech (I wanted to say "speal," but how the heck do you spell that word?) on their business. It is definitely getting me more confident promoting our business and knowing what to say. I always introduce myself as "Morgan Fairchild" at first for two reasons. One, hopefully it will make me that much more memorable and then they'll remember my business. And two, I want to get the shock value out of the way right away.

I don't think I've ever mentioned my full name on my blog. Those of you that I know already know my name, but to my other readers, yes my name really is Morgan Fairchild. No, my parents are not fans. Yes, it's my married name. Yes, you can have my autograph. Yes, it certainly comes in handy when booking a hotel room.

Right after getting married I HATED telling anyone my full name. Everytime I would have to use it my cheeks would turn pink and my temperature would rise. But, now I'm totally over it. All of the (SAME!) comments people make do get annoying, but oh well. Different people have to deal with different things, right? I do love the last name Fairchild though, because every name sounds good with it. You know, the other Morgan Fairchild chose that name because it sounded so perfect together. Her real name is Patsy Ann McClenny.

I just thought about how I'm going to get people finding my blog by searching for "morgan fairchild" now and it reminded me of something else. I love looking up my search query to see how people found me. My top two favorites are "my father in law asked me to breastfeed him." Umm gross, I don't think that this blog can help you on that one. And, the second is, "I am Morgan's slave for life." Now that person I can definitely us. Call me now!

*Cheesy Post Ahead*

Today I was just thinking about my life and how God has completely filled with it blessing. Seriously, there is not one thing I would change. I wonder, why me Lord?

I have such an amazing, caring, hardworking, goodlooking, godly husband who loves me and our boys unconditionally. I have the two cutest, sweetest, smartest boys in the whole world. We are all healthy and safe and love Jesus. I could go on and on about my family, but I already have before! :)

I love living in Chico! I think it's sad when I hear people say, "I live in x town, but y town is my favorite city in the world." Because, why the heck would you not live in your favorite place? I love living by both mine and Eric's families, they are SUCH a huge blessing to us! Eric's parents watch the boys for our cell groups and during the day and my mom watches them so Eric and I can go on dates and do special stuff. And, we see my dad every weekend when he's here from work. I love the weather in Chico (no yucky snow!) and the trees and the park and the little bigness of it.

In high school and college I always dreamt of being a psychologist. I was a psychology major and I really wanted to be able to counsel and help hurting women. And, obviously, that didn't work out. But, being a cell group leader is a million times better. I get to do lots of counseling, but I also get to take it a step farther and be a part of womens lives healed and transformed. God is the doctor performing heart surgery, but I get to be the nurse watching and assisting in the process. (And, if you want to see it in real life check out Laura's blog - although her most recent post may not be the best example...haha)

In high school I was involved in the Christian club at school and in my youth group. It is so sad to see that most of my "Christian" friends are disillusioned (a post that I've been meaning to write for awhile) or lukewarm. I know that that could so easily be me, but instead, I am passionate for Jesus and the lost. I am seeing people be saved, delivered, healed, and filled with the Holy Spirit. All of my bestfriends are not just churchgoers, but people living victorious lives, like in the Book of Acts.

Although, we aren't rich (YET!) we aren't in lack. I am able to stay home and raise my boys and we have always had our needs taken care of.

More Randomness for the Morning

I have too much going on in my life right now to write a coherent blog post. I need to prepare for cell tonight (I usually have my lesson prepared weeks, or at least days, in advance, but I am SO distracted by the encounter) and make sure I am fully ready for the two lessons I'm doing at the encounter. I guess it's not that much, but it is BIG stuff.

on the bus 2/5

Today Judah and I went on a bus ride while my mother in law watched Samuel. Judah has been wanting to ride a bus for a LONG time, so when I heard the mother's club was going on a bus ride I jumped on the chance. I wasn't so sure about it, especially with Samuel, so when Ellie offered to watch him it worked out perfectly.

in front of the bus 2/5

We caught the bus downtown, then made an hour loop back to where we started. Judah really liked looking at the cars, the buildings, and the other people on the bus. He wanted to know everyone's name so, like always, I had to make them up! : ) We then had lunch with my mom and she bought Judah the cutest new shoes.

new shoes

Last night I was reading books to Judah before bed and he noticed my collarbone and asked what it is. I told him it's my bone. He asked, "You eat it?"
I was like, "What?"
He said, "Oh, doggy eat it?"
Haha, I was laughing hysterically. He'd heard of bones that dogs eat, but he'd never head of bones in our body. This boy is so smart! But, how do you explain some things to a two year old?

At Samuel's 9 month well baby the pediatrician said he can pretty much eat anything, with the exception of choking hazards or things he could be allergic to (nuts, peanut butter, milk, hot dogs, etc..). So, I've been feeding him tiny pieces of wheat bread that he really seemed to like. All yesterday he was super fussy and they even had to call me to come get him out of the nursery. Well, there were nuts in the wheat bread! I think, first of all, they upset his stomach because he can't chew them and his body couldn't process them. Then, they gave him the worst diaper rash. I felt so horrible, I seriously wanted to cry hysterically. But, I just kept telling myself that all sickness/pain is under the cross and that it was a mistake! He's much better today, though.

Wimmy Wams is a healthy boy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIRANDA JAYNE! Today is my little sister's 17th birthday. So old!

2/1/07

2/1/07

2/1/07

Sammy Wams, Wammers, Wimmy Wams, etc..
Today was Samuel's 9 month well baby check up. There was good news and bad news.

I'll start with the bad news. Ellie was sick today, so I had to take both boys with me to Samuel's appointment. They've had a cold for about a week and a half and Samuel's has turned into the beginnings of bronchitis. Eric is going to pick up the antibiotics on his way home and he'll need to take it twice a day for a week. Poor baby! (Bronchitis is not contagious, only the cold that it starts out as is.)

The good news is that, other than the bronchitis, Samuel is SO healthy! He's big and strong and, obviously, has nothing wrong with him at all! He is now 22lbs, 5oz and 30 inches long and his head is 45cm around. His height is still in the 95th percentile (so tall!!!), but his weight has dropped down to the 75th percentile. He's still big, but because he's so active he's starting to lose some of his baby fat. Dr. Stanley predicted that he'll drop down to the 50% when he starts walking.

This month Samuel has perfected the art of crawling and pulling up. We even saw him standing for a few seconds the other day when he was distracted with a toy in each hand. He is into EVERYTHING and all that stuff automatically goes into the mouth. I usually vacuum everyday, but he still manages to constantly find stuff to put in his mouth. Yesterday he even ate a green crayon, which I found in his poop today. I just trust that God will protect him from anything poisonous or a choking hazard. Because, how in the heck do I stop him from putting everything in his mouth? I've definitely got the finger sweep down!

Everywhere we go people are still telling us what a happy baby he is. He only fusses when he's tired or hungry and even then, if you talk to him, he'll start smiling and cooing. We love our little curly-haired boy!

Eric completely re-did our website. Please check it out and let us know what you think. We plan to re-order our business cards that match the theme and we want to do it soon. So, feedback needed!

My friend Jenna also has her own business. She makes some AMAZING products (I use them all)- diaper clutches, designer burpies, and my personal favorite, the stylish and necessary nursing cover. Anyone that knew me when I nursed Judah, knew that I would practically have a panic attack every time I needed to feed him. What I love about the nursing cover is that you can see your baby (because of the boning), but with the tie around your neck there's no way the baby can pull it down. And, Jenna's a stylish girl and has tons of cute fabrics. You can buy her stuff on ebay or email her, or me, for more info!
