February is National Networking Month. Today I went to my first Wake Up NOW (Networking On Wednesdays) meeting. It was at this funny restaurant called Stick and Dip, where basically, everything you eat is on a stick and able to dip. It's always fun taking a little break from being a mommy to be a business woman. There were business people with all different kinds of profession from doctors and dentists to the Red Cross and Special Olympics. It started at 7:30, so I woke up at 6:30 which is early for me! The boys usually wake up at 7:15 at the absolute earliest (more often closer to 8 or 8:30).
We went around and everyone gave a 20 second speech (I wanted to say "speal," but how the heck do you spell that word?) on their business. It is definitely getting me more confident promoting our business and knowing what to say. I always introduce myself as "Morgan Fairchild" at first for two reasons. One, hopefully it will make me that much more memorable and then they'll remember my business. And two, I want to get the shock value out of the way right away.
I don't think I've ever mentioned my full name on my blog. Those of you that I know already know my name, but to my other readers, yes my name really is Morgan Fairchild. No, my parents are not fans. Yes, it's my married name. Yes, you can have my autograph. Yes, it certainly comes in handy when booking a hotel room.
Right after getting married I HATED telling anyone my full name. Everytime I would have to use it my cheeks would turn pink and my temperature would rise. But, now I'm totally over it. All of the (SAME!) comments people make do get annoying, but oh well. Different people have to deal with different things, right? I do love the last name Fairchild though, because every name sounds good with it. You know, the other Morgan Fairchild chose that name because it sounded so perfect together. Her real name is Patsy Ann McClenny.
I just thought about how I'm going to get people finding my blog by searching for "morgan fairchild" now and it reminded me of something else. I love looking up my search query to see how people found me. My top two favorites are "my father in law asked me to breastfeed him." Umm gross, I don't think that this blog can help you on that one. And, the second is, "I am Morgan's slave for life." Now that person I can definitely us. Call me now!

Also, you should definitely know more about Tommy Flanagan.
Hey, we need more snark in here! So I suggest a post about George W Bush where we could post excerpts like this:
ReplyDelete" To protect his psyche against humiliating feelings - inadequacy, isolation, incompetence, guilt - Bush has developed during his life several defenses that suppress, disguise and deflect those feelings. These defenses have included alcoholism, clownish behavior, emotional bullying, and Christian salvation".
What do you think, Mo?
Thanks, dad!

I love you, Morgan Porgan
If my name was Patsy McClenny, I'd change it to Morgan Fairchild too.
ReplyDeleteYou could always go by your middle name. :P
ReplyDeleteAttention:
ReplyDeleteMorgan has announced that she has found her erstwhile cell-phone.
But, as flatulence is sometimes blamed on the family pet, she blames poor innocent Judah.
