1. The birth of my 2nd baby boy, Samuel Christian Fairchild. April 30, 2006 at 1:58am. 8lbs, 9oz, 21.5 inches long. A supernatural 58 minute labor and delivery.
2. Laura got saved! Laura was my first friend that I prayed for, shared the gospel with, and prayed with to start a relationship with Jesus. It was an incredible and lifechanging decision for her and for me! Soon after Laura's then fiance (now husband!), Mark, got saved, too!
3. Eric and I both opened a cell group and now have the privilege of discipling some amazing men and women!
4. We were given a new (to us) car from our Pastors. A 2001 Dodge Intrepid. Our first car with power windows, power locks, and a clicky lock thingy.
5. We moved to our bigger, more spacious apartment.
6. Laura and Mark got married. And, so did Peter & Brooke.
7. Judah celebrated his 2nd birthday. Unlike his first, he understood opening presents, cake, blowing out candles- the whole party thing. He, also, celebrated his 3rd Christmas and understood that it is Jesus birthday!
8. Lots of changes for Judah: talking in sentences, being interested in the potty chair, becoming a big brother!, running, making lots of new friends

My Poor Baby!
I forgot to mention yesterday that Samuel is crawling and pulling up like CRAZY! He's no longer doing the army crawl, but is full on speed crawling as of a week ago. He is so content to crawl around, pull up, and play with toys on his own. As long as we're in the same room as him.

Today I feel like a HORRIBLE mom! We went to the mall with my mom today and she came over afterwards and put Judah down for a nap for me. Right after she left Samuel pulled up on the desk with the Christmas tree on it. I sat there watching him not really thinking anything of it. He grabbed the Christmas tree blanket and let go of the desk. When he let go he fell forward and bumped his head hard in two places on the desk. On one side it's a little red and on the other side he has a HUGE red mark with a bruise in the middle. I cannot even tell you how bad I feel. I sat there and watched it all happen! This is Samuel's first real owie (not including shots or anything done to him by his big brother).

Christmas Recap
First things first, as of yesterday Samuel is getting into a standing position all by himself. He's been pulling up for about a week, but he is now pulling up on his toys, the couch (as of today), and his crib (as of last night). So, the crib needs to be lowered. And, just this afternoon my mom and I discovered that his top left incisor is soo close to breaking through his gum. His top left front tooth is almost as close. And his top left front tooth is moving closer. So many changes everyday!
We had a great, busy, eventful, fun Christmas. It was the first Christmas with our precious Samuel Christian and the first Christmas that Judah has begun to understand what Christmas is all about...and, what presents are all about! The boys got so many fun toys, books, and clothes! They are beyond blessed.
On Christmas Eve we had dinner at my Aunts with her, my uncle, my cousins- Andrea & Emma, my grandparents, my mom, and sis. This was at home before we left. Notice their coordinating red polo shirts. Very cute! And, lately, Judah has been wanting to hold Samuel. I think it is so sweet.

Samuel loved the bows. Judah knew they were supposed to stay ON the presents and did not like it when Samuel took them off.

A little self-portrait with Eric, Samuel, & myself. Judah was busy with all the fun.

The boys on Christmas morning! They are in front of the Christmas tree, which also happens to be on top of a desk. I knew that Samuel would go crazy with it on the ground. This was confirmed several times at my inlaws with Samuel pulling on the lights and the tree itself.

Glue Times Two!
About the lack of pictures, I'm saving up all my flickr room for Christmas pictures. So, prepare yourself for a major overload!
Yesterday we had our second bout with the superglue. Judah was walking outside on his way to go to lunch and fell and cut his forehead. He seemed ok, but the cut looked pretty wide to me. So, after checking with the nurse, we decided to head over to Prompt Care. I love Judah's pediatrician, but unfortunately, he had already started his Christmas vacation. Also, his office is alway super quick and I wasn't so sure it would be at Prompt Care.
We actually got in and out in about an hour, which could have been much worse. They told me that they would need to put in a stich and he wouldn't like it so we'd have to hold him down. Thankfully Dr. Stanley did the glue last time (in his chin), so I asked for that. They said yes, he held very still, it was over quickly, and he even got a sticker. The doctor remarked on what a GREAT patient he was!
Every encounter I have with doctors/hospitals/medical procedures makes me realize how important it is to be informed. Going in not knowing anything leaves you in the hands of the doctors. Just because they are medical professionals doesn't mean they know everything.
The area that I think this most applies is during labor and childbirth. I read so many books, talked to people, and looked up information online, so I went into childbirth knowing what I wanted and what I didn't want. I knew that I could say no to an induction, no to an "emergency" c-section. I ended up having really incredible childbirth experiences and I think a lot of it had to do with being informed.
But, even in small little situations like having a cut forehead. I'm so glad that we avoided screaming, holding him down, stich removal and had an easy procedure and quick recovery!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

A little Gospel for ya'll
First of all, let me just say that I love the word "ya'll," but I feel completely silly saying it (or typing it) seeing as I am a California girl!
Second, Eric and I did indeed go see The Nativity the other night. I thought it was soooo good. Eric thought it was good, but a little slow in some parts. I was probably the only one crying in the theater, but I don't care. God really spoke to me through this movie.
While Mary was giving birth I could completely relate to her. Just like Mary, I gave birth to my first born son, Judah. Just like Mary I wasn't sure if I would make it to the place I was to give birth, while on my way to the hospital with Samuel. Just like Mary God is using me in incredible ways, even though so often I think, "Why me God? Who am I? Not my will, but Yours be done."
Christmas is amazing. Like I said before, I love it for so many reasons. I love the warm fuzzies it gives me. But, the main reason I love it is because it symbolizes the day that Jesus, the Savior of the world, was born. Maybe he wasn't born in December, but that's not really the point. He WAS born!
God created each one of us for a purpose and with a destiny. He created us to have a relationship with Him. But, sin separates us from Him. He is holy and perfect and the Bible says we were born into sin.
What is sin? Sin is defined by the 10 commandments. Have you ever lied? Even one little white lie? Then you have broken one of the 10 commandments. That is sin. Have you ever had sex outside of marriage? The Bible says that even looking at someone with lust is commiting adultery in your heart. That's only 2 out of 10. Good luck with the rest! :)
Seriously though, all sin is the same. Sin comes with consequences. The consequence of sin is death. Eternal death in hell. And, death here on earth, which looks like depression, anger, & rejection. When we sin we don't literally fall down dead, but we live a life of "death."
The Bible, also, says that God desires that no man should perish! God didn't create hell for man. He created it for Satan and his fallen angels. God created you to life a life of abundance! A life of fulfillment, joy, prosperity, and most of all eternal life with Him!
So, how do you go from living your life on a path that leads to death to a path that leads to life? First of all, acknowledge that you indeed are a sinner. Acknoweledge that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Sin has consequences and He paid that price for you. Then, repent from your sins. Turn to Jesus. To "repent" doesn't mean just praying a prayer, it means making a complete turnaround. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Tell Him all of your sin and then recieve His love and forgiveness. Begin a relationship with Him.
A lot of people have indeed "prayed the prayer" before. Maybe you have and right now you're realizing that your life never changed. That you never repented and turned from your sin. Today is your day to be truly converted. To go from just making a choice for God to having REAL relationship with Him. To be a victorious Christian, to be used by Him, to see Him do great and awesome things in and through you. He wants to heal Your heart. Cry out to Him!

What did childbirth do to my brain?
BC (Before children) I'd always prided myself in being superspontaneous and oh-so-go with with flow. I was one of those girls who was always fashionably late! I'd call up friends to hang out at 10pm. So, what I want to know is, what the HECK happened to me? Giving birth to a child completely changed me.
I freak out if someone just shows up at my house and I wouldn't DREAM of doing it to someone else (not including my mom and my in-laws). And, I only do things if they area planned out at least a week in advance. If someone calls to hang out, even if that night and the next are free, I still plan for the next week.
Most of my family is well aware that I've become completely anal about holidays. All sides of the family like to call us up and say, "Oh we're having our holiday celebration at such and such time TOMORROW." Hello! A little more notice, please? (Ok, this is exaggerated seeing as all of my family reads this!) But really, I started talking about our Christmas plans months ago and the only answers I got were, "I'm not sure what we're doing." I've decided that next year I want to celebrate at our house, everyone can come over here, and dates and times will be scheduled in August (just kidding....kinda).
Yesterday, when my husband got home from work he asked if I want to go to a movie. "You mean, today? Ummm, no." We would of had to leave in 45 minutes. Who would watch the kids? How would we work it in to the schedule? So, without asking me, he asked his mom to watch the kids tonight. I still feel a little anxious about going tonight, but I also know I need to loosen up a bit. I'm sure it will all work out and all of us will have fun.

Christmas Party #2
I love Christmas! I love everything about it: peppermint mochas, caroling, looking at Christmas lights, shopping for Christmas presents, getting an Angel Tree child, cutting down the tree, seeing everyone dressed in red sweaters, nativity scenes, receiving cards in the mail from all over the country, dressing my boys up in their Santa hats.
Every year I get so excited as soon as Thanksgiving is over. There is so much excitement and anticipation in the air. Judah and Samuel don't really grasp the concept of Christmas, but I'm still excited for them. This is the first year Judah, somewhat understands everything. He told Santa that he wants "cake" for Christmas. We're not going to do the whole "Santa thing." Eric doesn't feel right about lying to him and telling him Santa is real. So, we've told him Santa is pretend (although, he doesn't know what "pretend" means). We'll probably treat him like one of the characters at Disneyland. Fun, but not real. When he's a little older I, also, want to teach him about Saint Nicholas.
This morning we had breakfast with Santa. Judah did surprisingly well on his lap, even after telling us, "No like Santa!"

If you want to see some hilarious, I mean Eric & I were both laughing hysterically, pictures of kids on Santa's lap click here.
Here's our Christmas conversation we have:
Me: Who's birthday is Christmas?
Judah: Baby Jesus
M: Who is Jesus' mama?
J: Mary
M: Who is Jesus' papa?
J: God [ummm, how do you explain Joseph AND God?]
M: Who does God love?
J: Baby Jesus
M: Who else?
J: Mary...Papa...Judah...Mama...Baby Samuel
So, it's a start, huh?
Anyway, back to the whole anticipation about Christmas thing. I remember last year I was so excited about Christmas. We took Judah to see the Christmas lights at my favorite place (Songbird off Keefer for you Chico people) and he loved it. I mostly go to look at the incredible houses, but the lights are fun, too.
But, then Christmas came and it just wasn't as exciting at the days leading up to it. Christmas is kind of a let down for me now. Can anyone related? As a kid after Christmas you had all of these new toys to play with and now..ummm...it's just not the same. I love reading other people's wishlists and I really want to make one of my own, but I really can't even think of anything that I want. So, we'll just have to do more special things before Christmas.
Last night we had our Christmas party. There was a lot less people than we expected, but it was so fun! I've been wanting to play Cranium for awhile and I finally got my chance. It is the best game ever!

Christmas Officially Begins
If you didn't read my previous post, update your links! http://www.mamalovespapa.com
Most of you probably know that one of my goals in life is to get a GREAT family picture. We have lots of attempts, but little success. Tonight we had a near success. If only Eric was not wearing his tile/paint shirt. And, I was wearing make-up. Close!

Tonight we went to our first Christmas party of the year. We are having one, here, tomorrow night. We had a white elephant gift exchange where Judah won $10. I asked him, "Do you want a gift or the money?" and he said, "Money!" Although, the ceramic gingerbread man and woman were tempting, I stopped him from bringing more junk into our house.

Yay! I have my very own domain. No longer is my blog Judah's Adventures, but it is now Mama Loves Papa! So, change your links and blogrolls to http://www.mamalovespapa.com Thanks to Jordan, my computer smart high school, for all of his help figuring this out. Jordan also helped me make my very first webpage at the, not extint, gurlpages.

Proud Mama
My boys never cease to amaze me. Seriously. Every.Single.Day. Want to know why? Let me tell you...
The big boy:
Today he left me a love note before he left for work. And then, came home with flowers. Sweet. Sweet. Sweet!

The big little boy:
I cannot believe everything new Judah is doing and learning. I am blown away by how incredibly intelligent he is. And, I'm not just saying that because he's my son (although, that does make me extra proud). But, strangers will comment on how well and how much he talks. He's talking in full sentences now. Also, his sense of humor is coming out like crazy. I think Judah and I will have some fun times ahead talking in funny voices and just being silly (my favorite thing). He'll make jokes by calling us our friends names, for instance he calls himself, "TyTy" and Samuel, "Matt." So funny! We were at Barnes & Noble yesterday and someone asked him what his brother's name was. He answered clearly, "Matt." And, the lady said, "Oh, Matt?" I had to clarify that that's what he said, but it's not his brother's name.
He can count to 5 and sometime higher. And, he can also identify yellow, red, pink, orange, white and sometime grey and blue. He's a genius!

"Yanna" and Judah at the mall
The little boy:
Samuel is now doing the army crawl. He went from rolling everywhere, to getting up on his hands and knees rocking back and forth, and now he is crawling on his elbows and knees. I know that full on crawling is right around the corner.
2 days ago his 2nd bottom tooth broke through. I tried to take a picture to show all of you, but it didn't work out. As soon as we get a picture that show's his tooth I'll post it.
And, as always, he's just the happiest baby. Today we went to the mall with Jenna & Elliana and Samuel had pooped. I didn't realize until we had gotten home that it was a complete blowout- out his diaper, through his onsie, through his outfit and he only fussed a little because it made getting to sleep hard. Poor baby! I felt so bad for not noticing. Good things he still loves me and keeps laughing at my peek-a-boos.

Our life in pictures
On Saturday we went up to a tree farm with our friends Matt, Katie, and Big Sam. Also, Katie's friend and her 3 year old daughter. We had such a fun time feeding the goat, looking at the donkeys, and walking around the trees in search of the perfect one!
Family Picture. Judah was not too excited about stopping to take the picture. He was busy playing with the animals!

Papa & Judah cut the tree down. Again, not to excited about the picture.

Walking around the farm. Judah-Big Sam-Mama & Samuel

November 30th was Nona's birthday. Happy Birthday Nona! Judah's favorite part was the CAKE!

On the 28th we took a field trip to the firestation with the Chico Mother's Club. Judah was so excited! He loves firetrucks and as he sat in it he said, "I a fireman!" Too cute! He also got to spray the hose and tour the station. I thought it was so cute how all the firemen loved Judah. They would hold him and pick him up and talk with him. I think they could tell how much he loved everything.
