Every year I get so excited as soon as Thanksgiving is over. There is so much excitement and anticipation in the air. Judah and Samuel don't really grasp the concept of Christmas, but I'm still excited for them. This is the first year Judah, somewhat understands everything. He told Santa that he wants "cake" for Christmas. We're not going to do the whole "Santa thing." Eric doesn't feel right about lying to him and telling him Santa is real. So, we've told him Santa is pretend (although, he doesn't know what "pretend" means). We'll probably treat him like one of the characters at Disneyland. Fun, but not real. When he's a little older I, also, want to teach him about Saint Nicholas.
This morning we had breakfast with Santa. Judah did surprisingly well on his lap, even after telling us, "No like Santa!"

If you want to see some hilarious, I mean Eric & I were both laughing hysterically, pictures of kids on Santa's lap click here.
Here's our Christmas conversation we have:
Me: Who's birthday is Christmas?
Judah: Baby Jesus
M: Who is Jesus' mama?
J: Mary
M: Who is Jesus' papa?
J: God [ummm, how do you explain Joseph AND God?]
M: Who does God love?
J: Baby Jesus
M: Who else?
J: Mary...Papa...Judah...Mama...Baby Samuel
So, it's a start, huh?
Anyway, back to the whole anticipation about Christmas thing. I remember last year I was so excited about Christmas. We took Judah to see the Christmas lights at my favorite place (Songbird off Keefer for you Chico people) and he loved it. I mostly go to look at the incredible houses, but the lights are fun, too.
But, then Christmas came and it just wasn't as exciting at the days leading up to it. Christmas is kind of a let down for me now. Can anyone related? As a kid after Christmas you had all of these new toys to play with and now..ummm...it's just not the same. I love reading other people's wishlists and I really want to make one of my own, but I really can't even think of anything that I want. So, we'll just have to do more special things before Christmas.
Last night we had our Christmas party. There was a lot less people than we expected, but it was so fun! I've been wanting to play Cranium for awhile and I finally got my chance. It is the best game ever!
The girls

The guys

Yeah! Love the pictures..I love Christmas, too! The party last night was fun and I thought we did great job at Cranium, with our earthquake and turtle..very impressive!
ReplyDeleteMorgan, your boys just get cuter and cuter everytime I see a new picture. I just wanted to pop in and say MERRY CHRISTMAS to you, Eric and the boys! It is only a week away! Wow!
ReplyDeleteWe are also not doing the Santa thing with our children (only one child so far, but you get what I mean). I think it becomes all kids focus on, and as you said, it is lying despite good intentions. This doesn't mean I am anti-Santa by any means. We had Lila's picture made with him at a restaurant. We'll treat Santa kind of like we do Frosty.
