As for the pictures, I uploaded some but was told by my wonderful husband that I can't use pictures on my blog that are going to be used for the birth announcement. So, pictures to come...I promise.
Here's Samuel Christian's Birth Story:
Samuel Christian’s Birth Story
Saturday night Eric was tired and so he wanted to go to bed at 10pm. I wanted to stay up and watch Dateline Mystery and go to bed at 11pm. I wanted him so stay up with me, but he ended up going to bed at 10pm. He told me I should go to bed too in case the baby was born. I said I was sick of going to bed early or taking a name “in case the baby was born” and it still being in my tummy in the morning! :)
So, I went to bed at 11. A little after midnight I woke up and asked Eric if he wanted to make love. Afterwards I said “do you want the baby to come tonight?” (It's supposed to induce labor, right?) After that I felt crampy and couldn’t sleep very well. I tried to go to the bathroom and nothing came out. I slept off and on after that.
A little after 1:00am I woke up and had my first hard contraction. I walked into the livingroom and after it passed I laid back down in bed. The 2nd contraction came and I got up, turned on the light, and tried looking for my Supernatural Childbirth book. After it passed I turned the light off and asked Eric if he knew where it was. He said he didn’t know and went back to sleep.
When the 3rd contraction came I turned on the light and said “Eric I’m serious, where is my book? I’m having a contraction and I’m scared and they HURT!” By the 4th contraction I was laying on the floor. That’s when Eric jumped up and said “I’m calling my mom.”
He dialed his mom and said in the panicky voice “Mom, come over right now.” I said “Eric, calm down. You sound nervous and you’re making me nervous.” Then he went and got the book from the midwife and asked me which phone number to call. I pointed it out from the floor in between contractions. He got the answering service who said they were unable to reach the midwife.
Ellie got to our house unbelievably fast. I almost made it out to the car, but as another contraction came I laid on the floor by the door. She asked me if I thought I could make it to the hospital and I said yes.
I finally got into the car and put my seat back all of the way. Eric had a preaching cd on and I told him to turn it off. As we were driving on the freeway I could feel the baby moving down and pressure feeling like I need to poop. I knew from last time that this is really the feeling of being VERY close to pushing time and they baby was near. I considered telling Eric just to go to Enloe. He called the midwives office again and they still couldn’t get ahold of Janice, the midwife. They put him through to the hospital and he t old the nurse we were on our way.
I asked him to turn on the Bethel worship cd and tried singing along during contractions and praying outloud. In between contractions I felt calm, but as soon as a contraction came I would get scared and feel my whole body tense up. I didn’t know what to do to calm down. One of the lines from Supernatural Childbirth is “We believe that we will be at the proper place at the proper time with the proper help,” so I kept praying that knowing that the baby was VERY near!
I also felt like I needed to pee really bad, so that was probably the thing that kept me from having the baby in the car. I resisted the urge and crossed my legs so nothing would come out. I asked Eric how much longer to the hospital and he said “10 minutes. Oh wait no, we’re at the stop sign. After this turn it’s just down the road.” Finally!
We pulled up to the ER entrance and I had another contraction, so I told Eric just to go in. After it ended I walked in there and found him signing in at the front desk. I said “No! We can’t do this I’m going to have the baby NOW!!!!” They opened up the door for me and another contraction came. I looked down at how dirty the floor was, but laying on the floor was the best position for me, so I did it anyway. Then the security guard had me get into the wheelchair. He told Eric to run ahead to open the door and he started running pushing me in it. When another contraction came I told him to stop, but he said no. I could tell he was freaked out and didn’t want to deliver the baby himself.
Finally we made it into the delivery room. There were about 5 nurses running around shouting out what to do to get the room ready. One of them told me to get on the bed and my body just started pushing. I couldn’t stop it any longer! Karen, the nurst that Eric had talked to on the phone, put her face right next to mine and told me not to push, but to pant instead. I told her I couldn’t help it!
I pushed again, so Eric and another nurse pulled my pants off. During the next push my water broke. Eric said it was like a water balloon popped inside my body. During tthe next push that the head came out. After that Janice came in and her and some of the nurses said “Morgan, don’t push.” There was extreme pressure in my butt that felt like I needed to poop. As soon as I pushed the baby’s body came out and I felt so much better.
They put him onto me and I saw that it was a boy. Eric said “Morgan, it’s a boy.” Then they had me take off my shirt, so that they could put him on my chest. After 2 pushes the placenta came out. 58 minutes of labor- crazy!
