Having a baby has given me the need to create traditions. I know right now Judah is still too young to appreciate them, but the time is coming quickly where he will remember everything. So, why not get in the swing of things now?
Last year we went up to the mountains and into the snow to chop down our own tree. At 2 months old Judah did great in the freezing cold even though Eric & I got into a fight on the size of our tree. Check out the picture and you will understand where I am coming from. Eric, literally, chopped down a tree way bigger than the size of our car. It hung off end. At first it was funny, but when he wouldn't cut it down...well...not so funny. In the end, we got a big tree because we knew that this year we would have a toddler into everything.

So, I saw cute little trees in pots at Target. We'll get one of them and put it on the table. And, chopping down our own Christmas tree will obviously not be one of our traditions.
When Eric & I were engaged I thought it would be really cute to sew our own stockings. So, we went and got some plain stockings, felt, and thread. We each had these cute little patterns. The felt got all cut out and some of it even got sewn on. Eric was making me one with an angel and his was to have a manger scene. Well, it's 3 years later and we still have no stockings. Although, those half done ones are in our Christmas storage box. So, the homemade stocking thing didn't work out either.
This year my idea was to have a tamale dinner on Christmas Eve. I love tamales and I definitely think Mexicans know what they're doing. (Do the Japanese have any Christmas traditions?) But, of course, my family wants us to be there, so that idea was vetoed before we even tried it.
If you have any great Christmas traditions that are doable for a 14 month old let me know. What was your favorite tradition growing up?
