Christmas with the Fairchilds

Judah had a great Christmas this year! Last year he had no idea what was going on. But, this year he had so much fun unwrapping his presents and playing with his new toys. We had Christmas eve dinner at my aunt's. Then, Christmas morning we went to my grandparents (mom's parents), then church, and to my other grandparents (dad's parents) for Christmas dinner. Needless to say, Judah got a lot of presents!!! It's great having all of our family here, but busy busy busy.
My favorite present was a gym membership! I am so excited and have gone everyday except Sunday. My goal is to gain under 60 lbs this pregancy. It's also a nice break and when Eric can't watch Judah I can bring him to the daycare and watch him over the monitor. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really do like working out. And, I especially like the results!
It's been rainy the past week, so Judah's been having lots of Papa time. But today it cleared up and Eric is back to work. :(

Just us

Everywhere I go people tell me "You don't look pregnant." My response is, "I know. I just look fat." Come on people, I am 20 weeks (that's 5 months) pregnant!! I think it's just the clothes I wear. I should start going around in ridiculously tight clothes..that will show them! Although, I have a dress to wear for a New Year's Eve party (if we can find a babysitter) that definitely makes me look pregnant. And, here's my bare belly pic (a self-portrait). Decide for yourself:
19 weeks

Judah is definitely turning into a little walker. He's still crawling most of the time, but can walk a far distance when motivated. Today he wanted a piece of pita and walked all the way across the livingroom. Also, his most important accomplishment to date: he is saying MAMA!! What an amazing baby. This is all I really wanted out of him. I feel so loved!

One more thing, Trader Joe's is here. I really don't understand what is so great about it. I mean, the food is good, but it seems the same as S&S or Chico Natural Foods. Am I missing something?

Some New Pictures

I thought you all needed some new pictures of Judah. He's looking less like a baby and more like a toddler everyday. Also, he's taking lots of steps. Up to 4 and 5 and standing and starting to walk by himself all the time. He'll be a steady walker in no time!!! (And then what will I do?)

Traditions

Having a baby has given me the need to create traditions. I know right now Judah is still too young to appreciate them, but the time is coming quickly where he will remember everything. So, why not get in the swing of things now?
Last year we went up to the mountains and into the snow to chop down our own tree. At 2 months old Judah did great in the freezing cold even though Eric & I got into a fight on the size of our tree. Check out the picture and you will understand where I am coming from. Eric, literally, chopped down a tree way bigger than the size of our car. It hung off end. At first it was funny, but when he wouldn't cut it down...well...not so funny. In the end, we got a big tree because we knew that this year we would have a toddler into everything.
Christmas 04
So, I saw cute little trees in pots at Target. We'll get one of them and put it on the table. And, chopping down our own Christmas tree will obviously not be one of our traditions.
When Eric & I were engaged I thought it would be really cute to sew our own stockings. So, we went and got some plain stockings, felt, and thread. We each had these cute little patterns. The felt got all cut out and some of it even got sewn on. Eric was making me one with an angel and his was to have a manger scene. Well, it's 3 years later and we still have no stockings. Although, those half done ones are in our Christmas storage box. So, the homemade stocking thing didn't work out either.
This year my idea was to have a tamale dinner on Christmas Eve. I love tamales and I definitely think Mexicans know what they're doing. (Do the Japanese have any Christmas traditions?) But, of course, my family wants us to be there, so that idea was vetoed before we even tried it.
If you have any great Christmas traditions that are doable for a 14 month old let me know. What was your favorite tradition growing up?

It's all in a name

I am definitely a nickname person. I love nicknames! When you don't know someone that well you just call them by their plain, old name. When you know someone well you call them by a nickname. When you love someone so much nicknames just flow out. (Ok, maybe that's not normal, but it's how it is for me.)
I usually call Eric Er (pronounced Air). Not too creative, just a shortening of his name. Although I also call him Harry, Fat Boy Slim, Schmerick, and more...much to his dismay.
Now after the birth of my precious boy he was destined to be called by nicknames 99.9% of the time. My only concern is that he'll grow up not entirely sure of his real name.
Here are just a few of his nicknames:
Hudes/Hudi
Little Man
Pumpkin Spice Latte
Little Sweet Pumpkin
Dowdino/Chowtino
I already call our new baby Our Newest Little Sweet Pea or just Sweet Pea for short.
What is YOUR nickname?
