Save The Date!

Family 8.05

Yes, Judah is having a birthday party. Being the procrastinator I am the locale we originally wanted it BOOKED. But, my procrastination always pays off, because things turn out better. And, I never end up learning my lesson. So, we're probably going to have it at the place where I really wanted, but thought wasn't availabe which you'll find out when you get your invites in the mail. So basically, if you're cool leave Oct 22nd from 12-2 (probably) open. If not, well, then I won't tell you what you are.

We're going to have an AWESOME birthday party to celebrate the life of the most adorable, incredible, intelligent, amazing baby ever!!

We're having a baby....in May!?!?

Yes, we had our ultrasound and our due date was unofficially changed to May 2nd. So, we know our baby will be here anytime between the middle of April and beginning of May. The ultrasound itself was quite uneventful. I drank my quart of water and then waited 45 minutes PAST the time of my appointment before I actually got in. They say to get there 15 minutes early, so I waited an hour with a very full bladder. The highlight was peeing when it was over. Well, not really, but close. The highlight was seeing our healthy little Sweet Pea. Here is the picture. Eric asked, "Where is the baby?" Can you see it?
Sweet Pea

Judah has been going through a clingy Mommy stage. I have to be right next to him at all times. That means sitting on the floor watching him play. I cannot be washing dishes, making dinner, reading, and of course not be on the computer.

Judah's Truck 10.24.05
Well, on Saturday we went to a few yard sales and found a Little Tykes truck. I'm all about the Little Tykes stuff and buy as much as I can find (used!) and at $10 we just couldn't beat it. Judah has many other toys that keep his attention for an average of about .52 seconds. Well, for some reason he LOVES his new truck. He will literally play with it for hours letting me escape to all kinds of exciting things. It is so adorable to see him climb in the front, move the steering wheel, climb in and out of the trunk. He's definitely moving out of dependant baby stage and into toddler stage full force.

Sleep- lack of it

There are a few blogs that I love to read and regularly check. When they go for days at a time without posting it is soooo frustrating. I'm like, come on aren't you here to entertain me? Post something already!! So, I'm sure you're all at the edge of your seats waiting for my next post. Sorry to keep you in such suspense.

Judah's fever ended up turning into a cold/cough thing. We had to give him Robitussin so that he wouldn't cough and wake himself up several times a night. Eric & I both ended up getting this and have been congested and stuffy. Judah is feeling so much better and Eric and I are well on our way to feeling better also. I've been napping a LOT during Judah's naps, which helps during the day, but then at night I can't sleep.

As for sleep, I am so confused with Judah's sleep. He started sleeping through the night on his own at an amazing 10 weeks. Even the pediatrician was surprised. And, we were so thankful. After trips, sicknesses, etc.. he's woken up in the night, then gone back to sleeping through. Right now, he's at the waking up. The first wake up last night he cried for about 5 minutes, then went back to sleep. The second wake up he cried for about 20 minutes and I finally went in and picked him up. Of course, that just reinforced the cry and I'll be picked up thing. But, how do you listen to your baby crying hysterically for more than 20 minutes? Eric and I have decided several times to just let him cry it out, but it's easy to say in the middle of the day. Not so easy in the middle of the night when Judah's crying, I'm wide awake, and of course Eric is sound asleep. All rationale goes out the window and I'm swayed by my mommy emotions. I must get Judah sleeping well asap so that I don't die from exhaustion.

I know if I can just make it to the second trimester (hopefully!) some of my energy will come back. Right now I am almost 10 weeks along. We have our ultrasound on Monday, so we'll have a new pictures to post, too!

Judah is the cutest EVER!!!

Cute boys! 9/05
They don't get any cuter than this!

Poor little Judah Baby has a fever! It's really the first time in his (almost) 11 months that he's been sick. He woke up last night at 10:30pm burning up, then continued to wake up every 2 hours all night long. Poor thing! He's been in a slump all day. Still his cheery self, but not quite as chipper. When he went to bed tonight he still had the fever, so I guess I should be prepared for another looonnng night. I hope my baby gets well soon. It's SO hard seeing him not feeling well.

On a lighter note, I had my first midwife appointment. The good news is they aren't quite sure of my due date (are they ever?) so I get an early ultrasound! Yay!!! It is on Sept 26th. So, we'll get to see our little Sweet Pea a lot earlier than we saw Judah.

I know I've been MIA

Well, I haven't been updating as much lately because I've been exhausted and morning sickness is starting to kick my booty. I really can't complain because it's just this dull nausea. But, if you know me you know that nausea/throwing up/ etc.. is pretty much the worst thing ever that can happen to me. So, weeks and weeks of feeling sick to my stomach, well I can think of a lot of things I'd rather be doing.
Our days have mostly been just been me laying on the floor and Judah climbing on top of me. We haven't gotten out of our pajamas and my legs are looking like they belong to a monkey. Although, today Judah and I decided to make the trek to Food Max. He was running low on food and I needed to get some peppermint because they say it's one of the cures of morning sickness. As is chamomile, B6, ginger (if you have a suggestion I'm more than willing to take it). I plan to try all of them until I find something that works.
Well, it's our little man's bedtime now. He's such a great kid. Of course you all know that but I just want to emphasize it. We love Judah so much!!! He is the perfect addition to our happy little family!
Goodnight

Judah's Little Sibling

Here is what our baby looks like today- at 7 weeks. It is the size of a raspberry and it's brain is functioning, organs working, hearts beating, has finger buds with little finger prints, a spine... And people say this isn't a baby? Crazy!
week7
I'm still feeling great, but love food as much as always. The only difference is I actually have an excuse to eat a lot now. I really want some tamales from the farmer's market. Yum! And, I am so freaking EXHAUSTED!!! This morning Eric went fishing at 4:30am (didn't catch anything) and I thought I would have to wake up early. But, my sweet little angel Judah decided to sleep until 9:18am. Judah is as cute and great as ever!

We're Back!

In the ocean
We had a great time in Santa Cruz! Judah absolutely loved being outside!
Highlights of the trip:
-Judah laughing as the tide came in
-Judah eating sand
-Taking lots of pictures (of course)
-The perfect 75 degree clear, sunny weather
-Walking around the boardwalk
-Shopping in downtown Santa Cruz
-Lunch at Pizza My Heart
-Our delicious camping dinners: chicken taco salad & chili dogs (yum!)
-Making s'mores over the campfire
-Our camping neighbors from another country who wear Mennonite dresses
-Going for lots and lots of walks
-My avocado, mushroom, and cheese scramble for breakfast. Well, breakfast in general. Eric had french toast and the waitress gave Judah a free bowl of fruit.
-After Judah dropped his food on the floor a bunch of little birds came right underneath him to eat it up.
Eric & Papa 8/30/05Santa Cruz Beach 8/30/05
The days in Santa Cruz were pure bliss. The nights were....not so great. My mom got us these amazing sleeping bags that zip together. So, since it was cold, we decided to have Judah sleep between us. Well, everytime Eric would move Judah would wake up, Eric would wake up, and of course I would wake up. Eric would quickly fall back to sleep, Judah would fall back to sleep, and I would be laying there wide awake trying to fall back to sleep. After this happened several times I said (loudly I guess) "Eric, stop moving!" Of course he was moving in his SLEEP, but still it was so frustrating. I feel exhausted enough from this pregnancy and waking up a total of 6 times did not help. The next morning Eric said that the whole campsite could hear me yelling at him. Well, I think that's an exaggeration!
The next night we unzipped our sleeping bags and Judah and I slept in one and Eric in the other. I slept perfectly still with my arms going numb underneath my body. Judah, fortunately, only woke up 3 times. Last night I could not wait to sleep in my bed, it was great!
