Yes, we found out yesterday that Judah is going to be a big brother. Baby #2, whom I've already affecionately dubbed "Sweet Pea" will be arriving in April 2006. April 24th is our tenative due date, although expect that to change. We had 4 different due dates with Judah.
Unlike Judah this baby wasn't a surprise, although we weren't technically "trying." I took 3 pregnancy tests and they were all negative. A week later I finally got a positive, but to be sure we got a digital pregnancy test and sure enough it said "pregnant." We're so excited to meet the newest member of our family!!
With Judah I gained about 60lbs, so my goals this time are to excercise and eat a LOT less. We'll see how I do.... Also, with Judah we waited almost 3 months before we told everyone we were pregnant. This time we could barely stand to wait a few hours!!

Family Camping Trip
I'm so excited! We're going on our first family camping trip with Judah on Monday. We are going to Santa Cruz for 3 days. The weather is going to be so cool and nice. When I looked it up on weather.com it said it's in the 70s. Lately the weather in Chico has been so digustingly hot that we can't even go outside until late evening. Judah LOVES to be outside, so I know he'll have a great time. He can crawl around on the beach while we do our best to keep the sand out of his mouth.
Right now I am just trying what in the world I need to pack to take a 10 month old camping. Hopefully he'll sleep in his pack n play (playpen type thing). Only a f ew more days til we l eave...yay!!! So, stay tuned for lots of pictures and great stories.

Our 10 Month Old

On Saturday Judah turned 10 months old. In celebration we took him to upper park for what else, a photo shoot!! Eric had a specific place he wanted to go by all of these trees. So, Eric carried Judah to the spot and took a few quick pictures. There were a lot of stickers and Judah got some on his hands, so I didn't want him sitting on his blanket on the ground for too long.

On the way back he had a poopy diaper, so we were changing him in the car on the side of the dirt road. The park ranger stopped by us and I thought he was going to tell us that we couldn't park there. Instead he asked if everything was ok, then said "hey, I recognize you. weren't you a lifeguard?" So, the park ranger recognized me three years later. I think it was the sunglasses.

After that we took Judah down to Alligator Hole to put his feet in the creek. He wanted to get completely in and tried to wiggle out of my arms. Eric said we should take his clothes off so he could get all the way in. He loved it!!! He was much happier sitting by himself in the creek. We had to watch him closely because he really wanted to put lots of rocks in his mouth. There was also two little boys there and a dog, so Judah had a great day. The only part he didn't like was when it was time to go home and he had to get out.

Our One Mile Adventure
Today, before picking Miranda up from school, I decided I would take Judah to One Mile. He'd already eaten, so I brought my lunch and spread out a big blanket. The weather was perfect- not too hot with a little bit of a breeze and Judah loved watching the kids. Other than a few leaves in the mouth and some dirt on his knees it seemed like the perfect afternoon at One Mile.
Let me remind you (and for those of you that don't already know) I was a lifeguard at One Mile. For some reason, that place attracts some pretty weird people. I've seen a lot of interesting things: fat ladies in thong bikinis, old nasty guys looking for dates, but today seemed pretty normal. There were A LOT of kids and babies, which Judah loves to look at.
Nothing prepared me for what was about to happen. As we were sitting on our blanket, minding our own business, two ladies w/ their sons walked by. One was about my age and one a little older. The sat down a little behind us and to our right. I heard them asking their sons if they wanted to get changed. I glanced back and saw that each lady was holding her bikini. I assumed they were going to go change in the bathroom.
As if seeing these big ladies with rolls and stretch marks in teeny, tiny bikinis wasn't enough. They decided to change into their bikinis right then and there. Yes, no joke. They put their tops on underneath their shirts and I was wondering how they were going to put on their bottoms. Well, I won't go into detail. Trust me, YOU DO NOT WANT DETAIL!
I looked around seeing if anyone else saw what was going on. Either they didn't or they did and were pretending they didn't. Isn't that illegal?
Well, Judah definitely had an adventure. Fortunately he's only a baby and was completely oblivious to this whole situation. So, beware of one mile!!
But, after this scary situation I let Judah put his feet in and he loved it! He was trying to wiggle out of my arms and jump completely in. I'll have to take him swimming again very soon!

Oh, the teenage years...
Today I had the privilege of picking up my sister from her first day of 10th grade. It went something like this:
I saw her walking towards the car and waved at her. She pretended not to see me and kept walking towards the car. She got in.
Me: Hi Miranda
Her: Hi Morgan
Me: How was your day at school?
Her: Good
Me: How were your classes?
Her: Good
Me: Do you have any friends in your classes?
Her: Yeah
Me: Who
Her: I don't know
Me: You don't know which friends you have in your classes?
Her: Laura, Megan, Aussie...
Me: Oh, what did you do for lunch?
Her: Went to Chico State
Well, ok. Not much of a conversation if I do say so myself. If I was a psychologist, trying to draw someone out I would have failed miserably.
Miranda is officially in the middle of her teenage years. It drives my dad crazy and my mom ignores it. She doesn't want to do anything expect watch tv and go on the computer. Everything is "fine" or "good" and that's it. Don't expect more of an answer! You're better off having a conversation by yourself.
My dad says that I was quite the teenager myself. And, he's right. Although I never had a problem with one word answers (I've always loved to talk) I was EMOTIONAL to the extreme. Everything would make me cry! If someone just looked at me funny I'd cry and think they hated me. Thank goodness I've outgrown that one! So, I guess I'll have to retract yesterday's post. I've outgrown "emo Morgan" (more on the emo thing later) and I'm sure Miranda will outgrow the one word answers. I just hope it comes quickly.
Oh yeah, I meant to bring my camera while picking her up today, but I forgot. Don't worry I pick her up tomorrow and I'll be sure to get a nice, embarrassing shot.

Hello

Eric's not the only photographer in the family anymore!
Everyone changes and yet stays the same. The past few weeks I've been re-connecting with several friends from high school. The one thing I've noticed is: They're exactly the same! Sure, there have been college graduations, the start of careers, marriages, and babies. But, personalities haven't changed a bit. I always thought "growing up" and "being an adult" would somehow make me some boring, mature person. But, really I'm still the silly girl who used to love prank calling in jr high. (Although, I do prank call a lot less these days) It's great how you can not talk to someone in years and pick back up right where you left off.

Another Owie!
This morning I was on the computer and Judah was standing up next to me holding onto the desk. All the sudden I heard a conk. Judah was laying on the floor crying. I picked him up to soothe him and then looked for where it had hit his head. I didn't see anything on his head, instead there was BLOOD coming out of his mouth. This is the first owie that has caused blood. He had bit his tongue.
I tried calling Eric, but he didn't answer his cell phone. Next I called the pediatrician crying. The nurse told me to give him a popsicle to suck on and some baby tylenol to take away the pain. Within a few minutes he was fine, but as always I was shooken up for quite some time. Poor baby!

On a happier note, we went to Tortilla Flats last nights with some friends. Judah had such a good time playing with his little friend Reagan, who is 6 weeks older. It's so nice being able to take Judah out knowing that he'll have a good time. His favorite part is staring at strangers!

New Stats!!

Judah had his 9 month appointment today (finally!). He is 29 1/4 inches and 20lbs, 10 oz. He's in the 85% for height and 65% for weight. Though you would never guess it by looking at those cheeks, he's actually thin for his height. The pediatrician said under those tummy rolls he has a 6-pack and is well on his way to a lean, mean toddler. Yes, those were his exact words.
Usually during a 9 month well baby visit there's no shot, but they were all out of one last time. Instead he got that one today. He took it like a champ and only gave out a little yelp. Then he was happy as can be with Dr. Stanley holding him. Dr. Stanley was so surprised that Judah is such a mellow, friendly, happy baby. He said that he never has babies that let him hold them after the shots.
Yes, we know...we have the most adorable, perfect baby and are so proud of him!!!
